This a very beautiful hike totally worth the effort. Even though it was October 1 it was a spectacular day and we needed minimal layers. The first 3.7 miles is not bad just a normal tough hike at elevation. It is a dirt trail so not a lot of rocks to step over thus you can keep a good pace. The last mile is very strenuous and difficult because it is straight up or the switchbacks are very short so this will really work you over. The trails gets hard to see at some parts from this saddle to the summit so be patient and keep on the trail. It didn't really fell treacherous and we were fine with just normal just hiking shoes and no extra gear. I don't think the AllTrails distance is correct as many have noted they come out with longer distances. My Garmin said 9.5 Miles and its not always exactly on but that seems...
Read moreOne of my favorite peaks. Beautiful scenery and no crowds. Nice forests lower down, then the trail goes steeply up the north ridge with great views the whole way. The trail then traverses over to the North Peak's saddle with the imposing true summit, then goes steeply up the ridge towards it. The views only improve as one gets closer to the summit. The final ridge before the summit provides some easy but very fun and interesting scrambling. Great views from the summit, along with the satisfaction of having climbed the highest peak in the Wasatch. I would very highly recommend this...
Read moreI completed the hike on 06/20. Although the trail is only 8.5 miles for round trip, plan around 8-hr. The trail is not always gaining elevation and it becomes very difficult towards the end. The final portion of the trail towards the summit is built on loose shale and there are multiple trails which are not always leading to the peak. I got lost in some false trails. It is better and safe to follow or ask someone in front of you. I would recommend hiking poles and tough shoes for this trail. The view is...
