We took the cog railway to the top of Mount Washington during a snow blizzard, even though it was end of May!!!! Talk about its crazy weather!!! Luckily the service station was a solid indoor space with proper heat and protection. All guests were surviving well despite the blizzard.
There’s a gift shop, a cafe, lots of sitting space, registration booth for hikers, and a museum. The cafe had hot and cold drinks and some food options. The gift was had plenty of nice souvenirs and MW merchandises. But the indoor space in general was little bit messy.

The first is the decision to only carry Sm through XL clothes in the gift shop(s). I was SO bummed to find out you don't carry anything over a XL. I would've loved to have purchased a nice 2XL windbreaker with the Mount Washington Observatory logo on it. The second thing I was really disappointed with was with how much was out of order up top. Read moreA must-visit place for any weather nerd! Walking around the place after watching so many rhime ice and crazy weather videos was amazing. They have an 'extreme weather' museum in part of the main building which has the actual anemometer that measured the 218 mph wind. One of the buildings is literally chained to the mountain. The entire building. Of course, the views are incredible. Being above tree line is a great experience. This definitely a place you want to hang out for a while and soak in the experience of being there. They offer a program where you can visit in the winter, ride up the mountain in a snowcat, and spend a day with the meteorologists....
