A well-rounded hiking experience. The trail is surrounded by beautiful forests throughout. We went right after a rain and the forest had an enchanted feel to it. Even those with little hiking experience can wet their toes with this White Mountain “starter trail”. Just be mindful that this trail is uphill constantly with lots of rocks.
The descent can be slow because of the rocky terrain, so plan for slow progress. We spent 5 hours on this hike and clocked in just over 8 miles, even though All Trails said it was 5.9 miles. Also, the WEATHER is unpredictable, and my phone’s weather app didn’t tell me about the storm that formed while we were on the trail. Be prepared to potentially get wet or...
Read moreThis was an easy hike even with there still being some snow at the top and having to walk the monorail. We brought winter gear despite the warm spring temps below and we're well prepared for the chill at the summit. Also a good jacket, mittens or gloves and...
Read moreSnowed a couple inches the day prior to my trip and it was still a very easy and steady ascent, much like the nearby Mt Willard but about twice as long. I didn't need to use spikes once but those with less experience would probably benefit from them especially on the way down. I would not recommend walking to Mizpah like I did however, as going down that side for me looked like a solid mile of crabwalking down a ton of very steep and...
