Truchas Peak, the second highest peak in New Mexico is in the Pecos Wilderness part of the Santa Fe Nat. Forest, it is 26 miles from Santa Fe. The name of the peak means Trout, and it is also the most southernly peak / land area in the U.S that rises above 13,000 ft (3,962 m). With South Truchas Peak aprox. 13,108 ft. Elevation (3995 m).
