The reviewer who says the lady who runs the course is a soulless dragon may have been too harsh on soulless dragons. We arrived at 4:10pm, after paying $10 to park plus the toll to get over to the Riis Beach area. The lady behind the glass just wagged her finger at me rather than open the glass and speak. When I asked what she meant, she just yelled "CLOSED!!!!" still from behind the glass. I replied that their posted course hours say they close at 5pm. Again, her reply was a wagging finger and "I SAID CLOSED!!!" We left, out $10 for parking and two bridge-crossing tolls, but wiser knowing what we were up against.
I called later in the week and found out from someone at Brooklyn Golf Center that Riis Beach Golf closes at six, but the last tee time is 4 pm.
If you're looking for options, head up to Flushing Meadows Golf Center. The hours are better, the course is in better shape, and the people that run it probably won't singe your hair if...

Longest hole is in the 150 range so for most folks, youâll need more than just a putter and wedge. Though a pitching wedge and putter is totally possible. I took all my wedges and P-7i and used all of them except my 7i.
We had a problem with an excessive amount of goose droppings. It was still early season and cool so maybe they havenât cleaned that up yet and it wasnât a massive issue. If that was not addressed by the middle of summer could be a deal breaker.
Update: went back recently and goose poop was gone so probably just a seasonal thing. Course was a lot of fun and the greens were in...
Read moreLast tee time is 5pm. Be aware this is a walking course only. The Q35 and one other bus goes here. Car parking is $10.00 paid by cash or check only and you have to write your SSAN on the check. You can also buy a season pass
Walking carts cost $7.00 payable in cash only. Besides that, it's a nice course with only par-3 holes. It's on Rockaway beach, so it has a nice food court, etc.
I would give this a five but I hated paying cash for parking and the walking cart. They need accept debit/credit cards...
