Diversions Gaming
Background info, I am an avid gamer, my wife and I love to visit and support game stores. So, while we travel, we will randomly look for a board game store near or location and try to visit that store and if possible, make a purchase. We fully recognize that running a board game shop is a labor of love and the Covid-19 did not help them.
Diversions Gaming is found how we have discovered many FLGS (Friendly Local Game Stores) in an area you may not really expect. I would assume it is because the overall cost per sq foot is on the lower end. This should not really surprise anyone that has been around gaming.
When you enter you will find nice curated wall of games. Several of them we noted were very new releases. We also met two individuals and we could only assume owners. They were friendly and knowledgeable. They were very helpful with any questions and solid customer friendly banter.
They have several rooms with games and there is a good chance you will find a hidden game treasure.
On this topic of Hidden Treasures, they have a large collection of used games or games provided for review that they are now are selling. Good chance you could find a game with a good price. We did not have the time, so I can’t provide you more information. I also did not get a chance to validate the spreadsheet I was told was online. I could not locate it on a quick look for it.
We found a game we did not have from the New Release wall and were on our way.
The elephant in the room that caused my wife to step out of the building. The smell, while I can’t put my finger on it, I am pretty confident it seems like a moldy kind of lingering odor. While I can’t say but a deep clean could be in order room by room. While doing this maybe some improved organization of the games and shelves they live on.
If Diversions is your FLGS, I hope you continue to support them the owners they certainly seem to love gaming and are...
Read moreI want to start with the good and move to the bad after. The staff is friendly and helpful. I came for an MTG event. What the store seemed to be was a club who is trying to cover its costs by also running a store. The bad: The location was a bit odd, being near a lot of the contractors and more trucking area. I was the only patron inside, and did have 1 group of two come in to get some cards. It was odd since this was supposed to be an event where people come to play the game. The store itself was shabby and needs heavy renovation. Not much was clean, dirty and smelly carpet. The deal break for me was the bathroom, which looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months and was giving the whole bathroom a terrible smell. The card selection was good, they had decent one but seemed to focus on premade decks as opposed to boosters and packs. The people were nice and informed, though they did seem a little too easy to curse in front of a new patron. It doesn't mind me, but can drive away some people. Last, one of the people was talked somewhat bad about the only other patron in the store after they left. It has left me to worry if they did the same for me and in front of other patrons. I doubt I'd be coming back in just due to the low quality of the building and some general lax in...
Read moreWhile on the outskirts of a city , this place is fantastic. The owner of the store knows his board games. Within 20 minutes I was able to get a game that my friends and family want to play repeatedly. While this store lacks the big city feel of a normal board game store, it makes up for selection and knowledge. I prefer this store to the bigger stores. When I walk in I’m always greeted with a knowledgeable sales person and I walk out with a game that will make not only myself happy(and I’m a board game enthusiast ) but my group have a great time. You can tell this store is a passion project and every item is carefully selected. I cannot recommend this store enough if you are looking to get into the gaming hobby, or an avid board game collector. The owner knows how to find a game that’s...
