At LRLC you get what is described on the website but there are a few things to keep in mind before booking. The attached photo shows there are 10 cabins on the property, 5 of which are for rent. They are super close to each other and though vegetation between each cabin does offer SOME privacy, each deck is in plain view when walking by the river or down the road. So consider packing a spare sheet and perhaps they will hang a few outdoor shades at deck entrances & sides. They are on a septic system so be aware, it comes with single ply toilet paper. It's to be expected so don't be shocked. The cabin was very clean. Not a dust bunny to be found inside or on the deck. The bed, pillows, sheets & blankets were in great shape and the kitchen provided a everything we needed to cook 2 full breakfast and dinners but you will need to pack oil, butter, sweetener, etc. as its not their responsibility to provide. Be aware that if you select a cabin with a futon as the 2nd or 3rd sleeping option, in general they are quite uncomfortable so anyone sleeping on it may not have the same restful experience as those in the bed. The river runs fast here and though we did see some older kids tubing the 200 yards or so adjacent to the property, its not a place for small kids to wade in the water and play . In closing, for a clean, comfortable place to stay that is in the perfect location for the falls, Boon, Banner Elk, Grandfather mountain and more, you can't beat it but if you are seeking privacy, romance or you have a noisy group, this is not the...
Read moreWe stayed in the Mountain River cabin last weekend for my birthday trip and we absolutely loved it! The cabin was clean, stocked with all the towels and dishes we could have possibly needed and to top it all off, it was just downright cute! We were originally supposed to stay in a different cabin, but when the hot tub had an issue, Shane was very upfront about it and moved us to this cabin at no extra charge. He was super friendly and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed.
The porch on this cabin is gorgeous! I'd love to come back during non-covid times and invite a bunch of friends over to hang out on the huge deck and have a cookout. The hot tub was perfect and it was overlooking the river and that was a nice plus. It was great for coming back after a long hike or horseback ride and soaking sore muscles.
The gas fire place in the cabin was such a nice, homey touch; it came in handy for a chilly weekend in May. It was such a wonderful place to get away from the "big" city and just relax in nature without worrying about being in contact with anyone.
Only complaint was the pillows were a bit hard, but other than that, no complaints from us! We hope to stay again...
Read moreI stayed for 2 nights. The cabins are so close together (which you can't see that from the pictures online) there is no privacy and management is on the property so they can stop by without notice which is not cool if you're looking for a romantic getaway. There is also a $50 pet fee that I wasn't aware of . I just saw it was pet friendly and booked the dates and wasn't asked about a pet or charged at checkout so I was surprised when management knocked on the door to confront me about not getting prior approval and paying the pet fee. Unless you search the website menu (which I didn't) it's easy to miss that detail. For the price, the very, very limited internet and the inconvenience of having management roaming around (he came again to add chemicals to the hot tub) I would not stay again. But it's nice if those things aren't...
