Fall Fest review - we got there exactly at opening and boy they were already quite busy. There was plenty to do for the kids over the age of 3. Kids 2 and under are free but it is not advertised that they will not be able to participate in many of the events/activities. Even the free activities are mostly geared towards 3 and up. This rule seemed arbitrary at some stations - there were definitely some kids under 3 participating at various times but we were told no when we tried. Some of the staff were unfriendly to the point that they were rude to us but others (like the hay ride operator) were very friendly and informative. The lines/signage/staff orderliness could be improved because it was hard to understand things especially as it got busier and busier. The pricing is not great - kids are the same price as adults but adults cannot do much. My mom and grandma couldn't get up on the hay ride and couldn't participate in 95% of the kids play activities so it was frustrating to pay for a full price ticket for nothing. My participation was mostly limited to keeping my kids to following the rules on the activities. Also, all the advertising we saw mentioned how much was included but most of the activities presented, especially right as you walk in, were a seperate price - ex. 3 tickets (1.50 each) for a pony ride. Porta potty bathrooms were a surprise since we thought they had some built for the garden center. They were celebrating their 50th(?) Anniversary of the festival I believe we were told. Overall, the kids had fun but I don't think we'll return in the future because the grown ups were overcharged and did not have a good...
Read moreTwo recent experiences have involved employee rudeness, apathy, and/or incompetence. Most recently, I asked an employee to hold six butterfly weed plants until Saturday. I called two days prior, and we needed to get in and out because we had a very busy schedule. I was told they would hold the plants for me. We drove 45 minutes to get to Burger Farm, and we drove our pickup truck, which is not cheap on gas, specifically to pick up the plants. When we arrived, they did not have the plants on hold. No apology was made for not holding the plants. No one seemed to care at all. I asked where the plants were, and a female employee vaguely waved her arm in the direction of the plants without bothering to actually show me where they were. After searching, I couldn't find them and returned to the counter to ask someone to help me find the plants. I asked this employee why they didn't hold the plants, and the employee "barked at me" in a very nasty tone, "Because they probably got busy." He may as well have said, "Too damned bad." We vowed never to go to Burger Farm as this was the second bad experience we have had here with employees demonstrating very poor customer service. The following weekend, we found the plants for half the price at Ammon Landscaping and Nursery in...
Read moreI went for the Fall Pumpkin Festival (late September and each October weekend) with my son. I'm glad I didn't take my 14 yo daughter, as I think she would've have enjoyed it much. It really is geared for kids. It was a lot of fun for my son and I, and I'm very grateful that BFGC provided so many activities that didn't require any more money! Definitely try to visit next year!
There are a wide array of free activities provided by Burger Farm (check out the info on their website) which gives kids of most ages a lot to do. If you're on a budget $10 per person is worth it as long as you avoid the carnie games and rides, and have your own food with you. The food prices were high but not outrageous. Many of the activities can even be experienced by adults, although some are really only meant for little ones.
Honestly, the carnie rides and games are pretty expensive. One ticket costs $1.50 with no bulk discount, and carnival rides and games require 1-5 tickets/pax.
Definitely check the weather before you go. If the weather is bad, Burger Farms will close it for the day, which is exactly what happened on the Saturday I'd planned to take my kids.
Make sure to dress in layers, and be prepared to clean dry corn kernels and hay out of your...
