I can't remember when I first started noticing the problems that every single DG store that I've frequented exhibits, but there was a time that I would have given them a EXCELLENT REVIEW! However, even though I still frequent the 3 locations in my area, practically EVERY TIME that I'm going to purchase a specific item, there are none on the shelf. Also, there's no need to bother asking the clerk if they might have some that just hasn't been stocked on the shelf because even if they do have a pallet load or more that hasn't yet been put on the store shelf for selling, this clerk would,more than likely,not be able to help you get anything off of an unstocked pallet because this one clerk is usually the ONLY employee that is in the store working. In turn,this causes quite long lines at the checkout counter, which I have ended up just having to leave behind what I was needing to purchase because it was going to take way too much time to pay for the items. Other times, I have been the ONLY customer standing at the register and waiting to pay, yet there would be no employee any where in sight. I remember this one time, at the store on hwy 441 between Athens, GA and Nicholson,GA, I was in no hurry this day and I actually ended up waiting on an employee to check me out for 17 minutes and there was actually TWO individuals working on this day! Most times, it's no fault of the employees when it takes a while to pay for your purchase,but occasionally there are times when you encounter an employee or two that really just need to be FIRED, and one of these employees that needed to be fired said she was actually the store manager! Needless to say, I couldn't complain to the store manager that night, but I was certainly able to contact Dollar General's corporate headquarters about how rude, unhelpful, her foul language, and how she obviously didn't like her job at all, and all I had done was ask whether or not she knew of any 12pks of Dr Pepper, other than where they normally kept the bulk of the 12pks of canned soft drinks! Honestly, I was QUITE SURPRISED when about 2 weeks later I found out that she had actually been terminated! I hate to see anyone lose their job these days, but Dollar General made an EXCELLENT decision when they canned this "store manager"! I give a high score to DG for firing this girl, but overall, I can't give no more than 2 out of 5 stars, and that's actually a generous rating...

We also had a return because I had purchased a phone charger from another store the day before which did not work. We did our shopping and got to the register planning on using the return as part of paying for the order. The cashier called for the manager on duty to do the return and immediately this girl had an attitude. She came out of the office area fussing she said she had just clocked out and she was mad that she was having to come out to do a return. She ranted about in front of us and the whole line of customers. She then did the return at self checkout and refused to check us out there. She made us do a return to our card instead of applying it to our order. We then had to wait in line again to check out.
