(The update for this review is below) 10/11/24: I had a great experience picking out and buying my dress in June but a really bad one picking it up this weekend. I made a 4 hour drive to get my dress, and when I went to try it on, there were knats between the silk material and chiffon right by the back buttons of the dress and very noticeable. My mom who bought the dress for me was there and can get really upset, so I got the knats out easily and put on the dress, because I wanted that special moment with my mom with my dress and accessories. Then, we asked the lady to help us with the attachable sleeves they ordered with the dress and they were slightly too small in the shoulder and the sales lady tried to convince us to âjust switch outâ my new ones with their bigger try ons and wasnât understanding I wanted new sleeves and was kind of short, so I said âitâs fine the seamstress can adjust them.â I was really sad at this point, and Iâm kind of shy and wanted the appointment to be over, so I took off the dress and the lady packed it and the sleeves into a garment bag. I left with my mom and didnât tell her. Then, I came home to find that the lady didnât give me the correct sleeves - one is much bigger than the other and she didnât steam my dress. The silky material underneath has many vertical lines as well as some lines on the top chiffon layer on the sides of the dress. I did call today, but the owner is out of town, and I really donât want to talk to the sales lady; she isnât mean or rude just short and almost like she didnât want to be bothered. She said that Emily will call me back Monday and then weâll see what happens. I just really donât want this to happen to another bride it took some of the special-ness out of the dress for me. Hopefully, they will make it right and fix things.
10/21/24 Update: Emily called me back Monday morning to make things right, because she read the review. I was trying to tell her what happened and that I left the review because not just one thing but many things happened for me to leave a review. She starting interrupting me and told me we could end the call, because I was so upset⌠which confused me. I felt like I was very nice and wasnât upset on the phoneâŚIt just seemed like she didnât want to listen to me go into too much detail about my experience which I guess is fair because she already read the review and wanted to focus on problem solving and finding a solution, which hurts a little for me but also makes sense. She offered to refund the sleeves, said that they donât normally fully steam the dress, the larger sleeve was from inventory in the back and new not a used try on one so there was a miscommunication between us and the sales lady, and she would talk with the lady that helped me in the store. She thinks that the bugs came in through a window or something since itâs that season, but they did spray the building. I really appreciated that she was willing to make it right. I wonât get that special memory I wanted with my mom picking up the dress, but I have a beautiful dress to wear to my wedding, the seamstress I chose is going to make me sleeves and fully steam my dress, and I had a good experience picking it out and buying it. Emily also offered to further help figure out the sleeves if my seamstress was having...
Read moreWe worked with someone in November 2023 who didnât regularly work there, but was filling in at the shop. We ordered the dress and it came in months later. When I went to retrieve the dress for the first time, it was immediately evident that the dress was way too big. From Emilyâs mouth, the worker âmustâve been confused and should have custom ordered the dress to your measurements.â Emily then offered to pay in full for alterations due to their mistake which I thought was great and noble of her! I respect so much when a business can admit their wrongs and try to make it right. When I went to my first fitting appointment, which is connected to the bridal shop, the seamstress and I quickly realized we could not alter the dress down to my size without dramatically changing the dress. We all agreed it would be best to order a smaller size. I asked if we could custom order a dress to my measurements, but Emily said it was too late and would not come in time. When we got the smaller size dress it was still large in certain areas but the seamstress was able to bring it down as much as she could. At the final fitting, there were certain areas that were still big but we are hopefully able to use fabric tape to hold things together on my wedding day. I came to Nisswa for multiple appointments over the course of 9 months and not once was it ever mentioned that I would need to pay for alterations, nor did I ever think Emily would go back on her promise. I took the dress home on September 11 with no issues of payment, everything was good, until 3 days before my wedding when I got this text from Emily that I would need to pay for alterations. The way she spoke to me was unprofessional and just straight up rude. We spent over $2000 for a dress we expected to be ordered to fit me- we did not buy off the rack. I want to note I was driving 3 hours to Nisswa for every fitting appointment as I am from out of town. When we agreed to order the new dress it should have been mentioned âHey, if we order a new dress you will need to pay for alterationsâ and I would have chosen a seamstress in a closer proximity to me. I am appalled by the lack of professionalism and respect from Emily, the owner of Emily Kaye Bridal, and would never recommend anyone working with her as you might not get what youâre promised. Edit: They have now given out my personal phone number to someone who is texting me harassing me about leaving a review, which is so inappropriate. They have also changed their response to my review about 20 times. Everything about the dress was too big and nothing was communicated as you can see from the texts. They also had my friends reviews deleted. Insanely...
Read moreI donât post reviews often, but felt this was important for you all to know prior to visiting Emilyâs bridal shop. You will have a fantastic experience with Emily when you visit the shop to find your perfect wedding dress (this was my experience). However, after trying on my dress again a few weeks before my wedding I noticed that one of the beads on it was a completely different color than the rest of them. I contacted Emily and she immediately blamed this on me, saying that I failed to properly store my dress which caused the discoloration, even though I stored the dress in the garment bag, exactly how she told me to. She sent me another bead in the mail, which looked even worse than the original. Emily then told me to bring it elsewhere to see if they could match something to it, which is what I did (paying an additional cost). 4 days before my wedding, I received the following handwritten letter from Emily. As a bride to be in 4 days, I am sure you can imagine all the stress outside of this situation itself. This situation was handled completely unprofessionally and I would âkindly ask that you take your business elsewhereâ to avoid having an experience like this on your...
