The apartments themselves are very, very nice - nice finishes, new appliances, washer/dryer in unit, very energy efficient/insulated against the temperature outside, a nice pool/lounge area, and clean. The people are very nice as well.
However, the owners of this property - Flaherty and Collins - have very little care for its residents.
First of all, the parking is atrocious - if I came home after 3pm, I wouldn't get a spot near my apartment. If I came home late on a weekend, I would have to go up and down trying to find somewhere to parallel park. Most people will park on both sides of the road which makes it almost impossible to squeeze a car through. If a fire happened and the firetrucks had to get to the back of the complex, I honestly don't think they would be able to without wrecking dozens of cars. It's been like this for probably 6 months and there is no solution in sight. I felt very isolated because I didn't feel like I could have anyone over because the parking was so bad.
Secondly, they like to point out that they have locks on the front doors of all the buildings, but that's been broken for probably 8 months. I picked this property because as a single woman living alone, I wanted that extra level of security. I didn't get it.
Thirdly, when I tried to get a garage because the parking situation was so bad, there was a miscommunication in the office and I didn't get the garage. I also ended up being out $125 until they credited me on my next rent bill. They did end up giving me an additional $92 credit, but I thought it was unfair and kind of scammy that because of their mistake, they kept my money for a full month.
If the parking was better, the lock was fixed, and the communication was better in the office, I would have absolutely stayed. But I couldn't handle having to deal with the issues outlined above anymore. It's sad because it really is a nice property and I wish I could have stayed.
edit: you can see how much they don't listen with the response to my review. I moved out, and they talk about "bearing with them" while they get new parking. I feel sorry for those who live...
Read moreWe lived at the Flats for 6 months. It was a reasonable price for what we got. My biggest complaint is there is a considerable loss in communication between the staff on the grounds. I requested for about a dozen spiders be removed from my patio that I could not reach. I was told pest control would come out and spray the patio, so I brought in my plants, and no one came. I called again and spoke to the manager she said pest control was delayed and would get to it soon (a few days). I asked if she could call me to let me know when, so I could bring my plants in and she confirmed she would. I never received a call because no one ever came. Ha! I had six months to live here, so I just gave up. Unfortunately, the spider issue was the least of my problems. There was a screw up with our contract, where our contract gave a specific move out date but their digital system had a different one. The management was suppose to get back to me, but that never happened I went to the front office and called three times to correct this issue. However, the cherry on top was during our move-out. We vacated our apartment about one week before our lease was up. We dropped our keys in the drop box and left. We called the following morning to make sure they received the keys and garage door opener, and the worker confirmed it was received. A few days after our lease was up (remember we moved out about a week early) we received a phone call from one of the front office workers who asked if we were going to move-out. Ha! We were states away from Indiana by this point. The fact that I have to tell them they already have the keys boggles my mind. There is a complete lack of communication with the front office! This apartment complex could be awesome, if the front office crew figures out proper procedures to communicate updates so all staff members are...
Read moreThe office staff here are horrible. They never answer the phone and it’s impossible to get in touch with management. When putting service requests in they don’t even knock they just walk in. How’s that for preparing when you work from home and have meetings all day usually.
This place was obviously built very cheap. When there’s storms (as there’s been multiple tornadoes and severe storms recently) you can feel the building shake. The walls are so thin I can hear the people I share walls with and the people across the hall. My upstairs neighbors are extremely loud whether their 100lb dog is running around or they’re banging on the wall at 2 am or whatever they’re doing. They’ve also tried to enter my apartment multiple times. How do you forget where you live? Multiple complaints against them have been filed and nothing has been done.
The parking here is a mess and there aren’t enough spaces. They say visitors aren’t allowed to park by the buildings but this is in no way enforced and I have to park a mile away most days it feels like.
The company that owns this complex owns the same one my sister rents and she’s been having mold issues and they just paint over it time and time again and charge $1700-1800 a month.
They harass you to renew your lease almost 6 months before it’s time and threaten your monthly rent price if you don’t respond. Jokes on them since most everyone moved out when they tried to increase their prices this year and they had to go back down. Don’t let this property fool you it’s not worth the $1400 they charge. You’re better off living almost...
