Two of my favorite things in life are travel and coffee. And in the past when they were combined - eg enjoying a large cup of cappuccino in a cliff-side cafe overlooking the Adriatic - it was magical. But 1 year ago I had my first cup of Carpe Diem coffee (Sunrise Blend) and it changed my perspective. Over the past 2 weeks I was traveling in Europe for the first time in a long time. This is one of the best coffee roasters I have had coffee from and I have had tons of coffee from all over. This brand of coffee is served in many of my favorite coffee places and restaurants in Maine. Every visit to Maine I buy a few bags to bring home. One word of caution. If you are used to the corporate coffee shops that over roast the beans and you need to add tons of sugar or milk, try it without anything and slowly add what you need. We found Carpe Diem while on a vacation to southern Maine back before the turn of the century, as we are fond of saying. Since then we have mail ordered several different blends and varietals to keep our cupboards stocked. The coffee is well roasted to give a rich, clean flavor; just a great cup of coffee.
