What's up everyone, it's dad here, and I went golfing at Sequoya Country Club today, and as I stepped foot onto the lush green fairways, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This beautiful course, nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, is a true gem of the golfing world.
From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the impeccable condition of the course. The fairways were pristine, the greens were fast and true, and the bunkers were perfectly maintained. It was clear that the staff at Sequoya Country Club take great pride in their work, and it shows in the quality of the course.
But it's not just the course itself that makes Sequoya Country Club such a special place. The clubhouse is equally impressive, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. The staff are friendly and attentive, always on hand to offer tips and advice to help you get the most out of your round.
And what a round it is. The course at Sequoya Country Club is a true test of golfing skill, with challenging holes that will push even the most experienced players to their limits. The par-3s, in particular, are a highlight of the course, with stunning views and tricky greens that demand accuracy and precision.
One of the things I loved most about playing at Sequoya Country Club was the variety of holes on offer. From the tight, tree-lined fairways of the front nine to the wide-open vistas of the back nine, there's something here to suit every playing style. With multiple tees on each hole, golfers of all abilities can enjoy a challenging but fair round.
But perhaps what impressed me most about Sequoya Country Club was the attention to detail that went into every aspect of the course. From the well-placed bunkers and hazards to the perfectly manicured rough, every feature of the course has been carefully considered to create a truly world-class golfing experience.
Overall, I would highly recommend Sequoya Country Club to any golfer looking for a challenging and rewarding round in a stunning setting. The course is beautifully maintained, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is second to none. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner just starting out, this is a course that will test and inspire you in equal measure. So if you're ever in Franklin, NC, be sure to make a tee time at Sequoya Country Club – you won't be...
Read moreThis place is going to be VERY special. Historically, Sequoyah was great views, terrific layout, and absolutely hideous course maintenance.
We went out today (7/10/2020) to figure out if the renovations will actually turn the place around. 15 holes were open, 3 holes were closed for renovation, and 9 holes have completed renovation. All of the new greens are complete, and they are smooth and beautiful.
They are sinking huge $$ into the course. The renovation is being done under the direction of Robert Trent Jones II golf design company. All greens, fairways, and tees will be Zeon Zoysia grass. The fairways and tee boxes are being sodded, and the 9 renovated fairways are very nice. Fairways are cut a little high so as not to stress the new grass, but highly playable now. The ball sits up really nice.
The re-designed bunkers are a beautiful thing. They are taking out a lot of them, re-designing the rest, and turning them into "capillary concrete" bunkers. The new style bunkers are purported to cost a lot more, but the return on investment is 3 years based on MUCH less maintenance, resistance to "wash-outs", and great playability for the golfer. I loved them. Very nice, consistent, and every one of them looked perfect.
The downsides: We were cart path only today, and I think it will be most days given the new sod going in every day. They've clearly improved the drainage, but carts would quickly make a mess of new, expensive, sod. $65 to play 15 holes on a course that is half-way through its renovation is steep. There is no "turn" at the clubhouse, and no food / drink service on the course. Pack your provisions accordingly.
Would I play it again during renovation? I would! If you're a nerd like me and want to see the "future" of golf bunkers, this is it. Greens are perfect. The renovated holes will give you a taste of how special this place is going to be in the very...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I traveled from our cabin in Blue Ridge, GA to come and play Sequoyah National Golf Course. It was our third time staying in Blue Ridge but we decided to play a course we'd never done. I will start by saying that pictures and videos do not do it justice. Just pulling up to the clubhouse and seeing the view was breathtaking. The staff was very friendly, they had a stocked pro shop with souvenirs and also any golf necessities if needed and a grab and go snack area. Range balls were included so we hit for a bit before our tee time. The topography of the course is unlike anything I've ever played before. As I mentioned, the pictures don't show the major elevation drops. There were extremely steep hills to climb, major drops from tee boxes all the way down to the fairways. It was insane! We love watching drone flyovers of courses to see hole layouts so we watched several of this course and vlogs of people playing. However it's crazy how the elevation change was in person. We got some very useful information for certain holes, shots and short game tips. Putting was definitely where I struggled, but enjoyed the challenge nonetheless. The course was in beautiful shape and many holes had the most amazing views of the mountain range. I would absolutely come back in a heartbeat. Honestly my only complaint, which isn't anything related to the course were the gnats. We had no breeze during our round so that was annoying for me, would love to come back up in cooler weather. I encourage anyone reading this, if you want mountain golf to go for...
