This course is wonderful and worth the trip, even if on a windy morning such as we had on July 4th of 2018. The first image is from our "on-site" lodging, second chosen to show the wonderful airy and open atmosphere you play in and the third shows the brisk wind we enjoyed.

Never thought I would enjoy playing in 15-20 mph winds but the use of five tee boxes and generous landing areas made playing more than manageable. The fact is, we loved it. They don't have the amenities of an expensive course, but they had everything you need to stay and play, the course was just a lot of fun to play and it's NOT expensive.

Staff and management are friendly and excellent, the course was in great condition in spite of torrential rains that occurred earlier in the week. My wife and I played 8 courses in both Minnesota and North Dakota during this recent trip and the Links of ND was certainly the high-point of our 12 day trip playing courses that included Hawktree in Bismarck, The Wilderness at Fortune Bay, Lutsen and a few others in northern Minnesota. Lutsen also ranked highly for us but if you want a different golf experience, do not bypass The Links of North Dakota if you are...

We have played The Links just about every September for over 10 years and have mostly thought it was a pretty good golf course worth the drive and the cost. Due to the pandemic we hadn't played it for a few years so were quite shocked to see the condition it was in and also the fact they were now charging $100 USD (especially in shoulder season). It was in the worst condition we have every seen, possibly one of the worst conditioned golf courses I have played, and certainly the worst $100 USD course ever. The greens were OK but most fairways and tee boxes were terrible with dry patchy grass and hard pan dirt on many large areas of fairway and around greens. Every bunker was rock hard. To top it all off, the carts that they gave us were old & rattling and one was basically falling apart to the point that the roof had to be tied on with rope from the course. It just looks like this course is dying a slow death with less money being spent on upkeep. This course was in the regular rotation in our September buddies golf weekend for many years but we will never go back again as have found several others in ND that are in far better shape and...

I never take the time to leave reviews, good or bad, but couldn't stop my self on this one. This track was the single greatest disappointment in my 30+ years of playing golf. I have never seen a golf course in worst condition in my life. The tee boxes are rocks, weeds and some old crab grass in spots. The fairways have grass in some areas, and nothing but dirt in others - and they are not telling anyone, nothing on the website, no heads-up before you pay $100 to play. It's not until you come in and complain about it after the round that you hear about "irrigation problems", which is accompanied by a shoulder shrug like "what'dya do?"

The course layout is cool, but whatever or whoever happened, this place looks like hell. There is no way this was the condition of it when it got ranked in the top 100, but I understand why it hasn't been on the list since the early 2000's. They should take that accolade off the website and call it what it is, "comparable to the worst muni you've ever played - in the middle of nowhere...
