Milk House Meats is THE best meat market around. They have a massive selection, even including some premade raw foods that are very good, as well as a massive selection of homemade sausage. They also have a rather well stocked grocery section, so depending on how much you cook yourself, you could probably do most of your shopping here.
The first thing you'll notice about Milk House Meats is that it smells great. Which is very rare for a meat market. I've been to many, as I cook almost all of my meals fresh, and they usually have anywhere from a slightly dirty smell to a downright putrid/feces smell. Not here, this place is spotless.
The smell lends itself to the squeaky clean interior as a whole. There is clearly no day in which cleaning is skipped, and there are no corners cut. Even the meat working surfaces, which must get used very frequently, look brand new. They even clean their cutting boards so well that you can't see the knife grooves. The different meat cutting stations are kept well separated, as they should be, and sure this should all be "standard practice", but what you'll find in most places is that it isn't.
Not here, though, this place sets the standard!
You'll taste all of the greatness and cleanliness in the never-frozen, very fresh meat. Furthermore, the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Clearly professionals who like being there. I've asked questions in which a simple "Uhuh" or "Nuhuh" would've been typical at other establishments, but instead they gave thorough explanations.
I would give 6...
Read moreI wanted to like this place, as it's extremely close to me and I want to find farm-raised meat and support local farmers. I was disappointed at the way I was treated after explicitly saying it was my first time visiting so I didn't know their routine, so to speak. Whoever "helped" me at the counter was condescending and refused to cut the roast I wanted because it was "too late in the day" and said something about not wanting to open a new shoulder? - it was 3pm and they close at 6. I asked for the closest equivalent to the cut I wanted and was sold a cut that was more expensive. I won't be back, which is a shame as I've seen the signs around for months and decided to give it a go, and came out feeling disrespected. Go to Wrights Meat...

I couldn't help but start throwing things in my basket from the refrigerator. When it was my time at the meat cabinet i seen theses amazing looking loaded backed potatoes, i just had to buy four and a T-shirt.
Got home, realized i paid about $12 each for the patotes, became a little angry and put them on the grill, with their own cheddar dogs. As soon as i took a bite of that loaded patatoe i knew i would be back for more. I am completely happy with my experience at this butcher. Thank you for allowing us to have the opportunity to have some amazing meats from your place....... And...
