Come with me on a solo hike to Lantern Hill! The word for this hike is, WOW! I finished 3 safety and empowerment keynotes for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and some of the staff recommended this hike. I had a couple of hours of free time in the evening, so I grabbed my @HOKA hiking shoes (I always travel with 1 pair of shoes I can hike in just in case) and hit the trails! One of the joys and the power of solo hiking is that when you have an opportunity to get outside, you can simply go! You don't have to wait for anyone, plan around another schedule, or deny yourself the opportunity to go because no one can join you. You go wherever and whenever you want! I also happened upon an entire nest of turkey vultures! 5 were sitting in a tree, another was soaring in the sky around the water and 1 was sitting solo in a tree off to my left. I stopped and enjoyed the moment with these beautiful animals and then the vulture on the branch spread it's majestic wings and took to the sky with a "whoosh whoosh" of it's wings. WOW. Check out the beauty of this trail and the land! ✨Sign up for my newsletter! ✨Follow me for solo adventures, self-defense, and empowerment! 📍Ancestral land of the Pequot. (native land app) "The Mashantucket Pequots are a native Algonquin people who endured centuries of conflict, survival, and continuity on and around North America’s oldest Indian reservation (Est. 1666) located in southeastern Connecticut. In 1637, the Pequots became the first native people to survive a genocidal massacre at the hands of European immigrants, in what would become the continental United States. Pequot history is an unprecedented story of redemption and restoration." www.mptn-nsn.gov #flyhumanfly #hokaadvocate #solohking #lanternhill #solohiker #empowerment #selfcare

This is a great spot for taking a break from gambling at Foxwoods and hiking. The entire loop up and back to the parking lot is roughly 60 minutes. If you like, there is a slightly more level loop hike that goes out by the pond and takes a out 40 minutes (there are some steeper spots so this is still an...

Great trail, a good workout with plenty of beautiful views. There are many ways to get in so I would suggest a full battery on your phone and make sure you drop a pin to know where you parked. You can very easily get turned around. We did and found a road to walk to...
