May not be very safe – A group of four men was standing next to my buddy and me while we were at a station. One of them (who clearly viewed himself as the leader, or the owner, or an expert, or someone we cared anything about – (perhaps all of the above)) proceeded to tell us we were “unsportsman like” while offering no details. In return, I requested he allow us a “bit more room” at the station we were on. In response, he flew into a rage shouting competition rules (note: this was not a competition). We were hoping to have a nice day at the range. He threaten to throw us out and proceeded to call someone on his cell– nothing happened. He and his 3 colleagues followed us to 4 other stations while he made verbal threats and utterances (“I’ll knock you on you’re a”) and called us names (“aholes”, “Dumb and Dummer”, “Wisea**”) all while we were trying to shoot. Without responding to him, we ended our circuit early and we left the field because things were only getting worse. No staff members were on the field to witness this escalation.
One member of the perpetrators group, caught up to us while we walked back to the club house. He apologized for the perpetrators behavior and explained that the perpetrators was not a member of Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays and he (the member) was “just tagging along” . This member then decided to speak to management who found us and also apologized. Kudos to the member for standing up against bad behavior! And may heaven help the perpetrator when he finds himself face-to-face with someone just like him.
Sadly, the field is large at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays, and the stations are self-service. This means there is few staff to prevent what could have been a very bad day. My buddy and I are members of Orvis Sandanona in Millbrook, NY. Orvis is very nice and civilized – I do not think anything like this would ever happen at Orvis. I can not see myself returning to Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays again.
To the Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays Member, and management. To the Member: you are a hero for standing up and doing was is right even when your peer group was in the wrong. Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays is luckily to have members like you! To the Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays Management: you were very kind to my buddy and me. You dealt with the matter professionally, and quickly – thank you! I apologies for my through yet truthful account above and, please understand, I feel ethically compelled to warn others what can happen when people are left...
Read moreI shoot about 7-10 times a year and this place was great!!! I decided spur of the moment to check it out this afternoon and I was impressed with the shooting experience. The place was easy to get to and well marked. The facility looks spotless, the course is maintained well, and the grounds are pleasant to walk through. The gentleman who showed me around the first station was extremely helpful and used my first name on several occasions while he showed me how to operate the throwers. I would say that I am a better than average shot and the course was very challenging. I asked for the advanced course and after the first station I switched to the intermediate course. I wasnt expecting as much of a challenge but after seeing the advanced course I was actually impressed that this was a place that you could go to several times and still be challenged. What's even nicer is that you can switch between advanced and intermediate whenever you like. The ability to customize this course is what made the experience for me. They throw targets in so many different patterns and directions; they even had rabbits on two of the stations. I will definitely be returning and next time not alone! The membership looked like a great deal but theu said you would need to go about seven times a year to breakeven on it which I just dont see mtself being able to do. If I lived closer I would have jumped on the deal. In short; great place, great staff, cant...
Read moreI live in New Jersey so it is over a 2 hour ride out to Coplay, but every second is worth it. They are so professional and the place is so well kept that it’s always a breeze getting out onto the course. The sign up process is quick and easy and then you get a little buzzer like you are at Friday’s and hang out in the outdoor seating area while they set you up. They pull up some golf carts for you, check coolers for alcohol (No Alcohol Allowed) and then the buzzer goes off and they come out with the rifles as an instructor goes over the rules and gets a gauge to see how familiar the group is with shotguns. He explains everything thoroughly and answers every question you have then sends you on your way. Then it’s off to whatever courses you signed up for, whether it’s beginner, intermediate or what have you. Stations are numbered and you have a card that keeps track of the costs that you throw, press 1 to through high, 2 to throw the low and three to throw both at the same time to hit the double. The quality of the routes they choose and the landscape is just as great as the rifle they give you. They use beretta silver pigeons which go for just under $3,000, but are worth every penny. Each station you go to gets cooler and cooler throw different angles, over water, rolling across the ground like a rabbit etc. the creativity in this place is awesome, I wish I...
