I called this company hoping to find some help with a Sony DAT player/recorder that hadn't been used for many years and the gears were frozen. Since there aren't any real tape recorder repair people on Oahu, this guy was my last hope and he did sound like he could repair my deck when I talked to him on the phone.
Driving from Hawaii Kai to Millilani is no easy drive and when I got to his establishment, I was very leary, to say the least. I don't mind that his business is in a converted storage unit. I've gone to other repair people with a lot worse. But my suspicions about his abilities to fix my deck started when he literally doused my entire deck with a toxic spray to rid whatever Covid germs might be on it. Honestly, a good wipe would have done it without possibly ruining the gears in my deck entirely.
After about a week, I gave him a call to see if he'd been able to fix my deck. He hadn't but would "get to it today (Friday) or Saturday." Calling him after the weekend, he basically told me he couldn't make any headway and he might have to buy some WD40 to get the gears running. WD40!!! This isn't a bicycle chain needing to be freed up, it's an expensive tech machine!! He asked if I wanted him to try and fix it. I said, no, I'd come and get it. Covered with white residue from the spray he doused my machine with, I picked it up hoping he didn't ruin the whole deck. I will try to fix it myself, which I probably should have tried to do in the first place rather than trust it to that Neanderthal. BUT, I am out $41 from the "repair" he attempted to do, just for the bench fee.
Further, to inspect just what he DID do: when returning home I opened up the unit to find corrosion inside and on the tape door where he sprayed the alcohol. I even question whether he even opened up the unit to see just what was involved and whether he could do anything with the deck. The tape that was stuck inside was still in its place. By working the gear by hand I was able to get the tape out at least. And still he charged me a...

First off, Eric is very unprofessional- Smoking in front of customers, which mind you I have asthma, neglecting to work as he sat in his office chair outside of the place of business on his cellular device. He also DROPPED the console 2 feet onto a glass table due to mishandling it.
Secondly, Eric had repeatedly gave me new dates to expect my console to be completed, claiming that he had "not yet got to it". What started as a "sometime next week" turned into a month, still with no exact date for the repair to be completed. Upon requesting for him to return the dissembled DS, since I was moving off island and it was well over 2 weeks now, he told me that he and his family were taking a weekend getaway and was indeed closed that day, a Friday- not a holiday. He made it feel as if my business was an inconvenience for him and for his wallet, since the trip was "pricey". Furthermore, he failed to communicate this with me after I had contacted him via email 4 times prior, all initiated by me.
This guy and his business is of no good, I highly advise that if you need your console fixed, you should definitely take it elsewhere. As one, he could defect it further, and two, he will NOT give it back to you within the allotted time frame(s), even if you ask for it back.
I am still waiting for my property and he may choose to...
Read moreEric was AWESOME! I brought in an Apple Watch. The screen had cracked and I needed to replace it I googled and called around and to my surprise NO ONE does apple watches besides apple and Best Buy but prices are super high. here at 808 repair prices was very reasonable and it even came with warranty without paying extra! Eric was a great help he kept in contact with me through the process he was honest from day 1!! I went in to change my screen and he went and looked to make sure everything was good and he actually noticed that the battery was really bad (ready to explode kine bad) and good thing he caught that because I was supposed to ask if he could change the battery too and I forgot so I’m glad he got that! And I know that if something doesn’t go right he won’t leave the problem unresolved. He fixes it or replaces it so that you’re not left hanging and he doesn’t charge you extra. He’s Fair not money hungry!
Eric was also so patient when it was time to pay.. the person who said they were going to pay for a repair over the phone decided last minute that he didn’t want to pay. Mind you he needed to leave to deal with some family things and he stayed back to help me to make sure I was able to leave with the watch and not have wasted both of our time. Although there was some bossyness going on Eric stayed professional the whole time! I even tried to tip him for helping me and staying back but he didn’t let me. So if anyone asks YES THIS PLACE IS LEGIT ERIC IS FAIR PATIENT AND AWESOME thank you so so much Eric! You’re awesome we’ll be back guaranteeeeee...
