We are very disappointed with how long it is taking for my mother's memory vase to be made. We paid ($1000+) for her vase at the end of April and we were originally told that it would take 3-4 months to get. It is now October and we are still using a small temporary plastic vase for my mother's grave.

In mid-July, I called for an update on the order and that's when Maggie realized that I needed to sign another form for the order. They failed to send that form to me and I had to sign it late, by no fault of mine. Maggie was apologetic and said she would put a note to rush-order it because of her failure to send me that final form and she said she would call back in August to update me. Towards the end of August, I had to call them back because I never received a call back from Maggie. She then tells me the ETA is now end of September. On Sep 24, I call and Maggie says she'll call back the next day after she contacts someone else about it. Again, no call back the next day (Sep 26), so today (Oct. 1) I decide to call again. Maggie tells me that they don't have the vase yet and tells me that memory vases can take around 6 months or more. That is not what she originally told us back in April. I then reminded her that it was them who sent that final form late and asked if that could be why its taking so long. She said that it can be a factor. I've told her we've been patient enough and she apologizes and says that she'll call me back when they have it.

Poor communication and unfulfilled promises have made this a terrible experience. I would not recommend them, please find another business when looking to order your loved one's...

My heart was overwhelmed with the professionalism and patience Hawaiian Memorial’s staff has been to our family. Believe me, we’ve made so many changes with in the three weeks leading up to the funeral. They worked with us to make sure that everything was perfect for mom.

Mike Sewell, awesome job. I want to thank you for helping me carry this mission to ensure it’s success by allowing me to contact you with my concerns. You made it happen.

KJ, your love, patience and kindness too became my strength to carry on. Your energy for assisting Mike was priceless and appreciated. Thank you.

Malin, your research helped our family make the final decision for mom’s resting place. I am glad our first choice was the best choice.

To the men at the burial site, awesome job. You allowed our family to have a last farewell before internment. Mahalo from my family to your team.

Lastly, Sarah, words cannot express much love and aloha you have given to our family. You have a heart of gold and compassion and I’ve felt it. From the time we’ve met til the internment of my mom, your genuine concern to help make the day go smoothly was strengthening to me. Thank you so much for your patience. But I do need to apologize regarding the drive by. Many of mom’s friends and family have not seen each other for awhile and they love to chatter. But you kept a smile and helped move them along.

Hawaiian Memorial team, from the bottom of my heart and I speak for my mom’s family and friends, THANK YOU FOR...

If I could I’d give it -100 stars!!!!! I’m born and raised in Hawaii moved away 9 years ago due to cost of living I still have family and friends here including my grandpa who is buried here, and was trying to get my grandma buried here on top of him like we planned when he passed 23 years ago. It’s been 3 weeks today since my grandma passed and I can’t get anyone on the phone I understand they are busy but Karen won’t email me back either. I needed to know if we could even afford a funeral in Hawaii before we spend $9,000 shipping her body from Louisiana and all I kept get was the date of the funeral. This week the funeral home In Louisiana needed a final decision this week to ship her next week so I ended up just signing and paying. But I still have no idea what the plans are if they’ll have someone to pick her up at the airport or how they’ll store her body. It’s bad enough that the closest open date the had is October 11 (she passed on September 02), but to also ignored us makes everything unnecessary hard. I’m working with 2 different funeral homes in 2 different time zones(5 hours makes a huge difference), both are dignity providers. The one in Louisiana is such a dream to work with and they one in Hawaii is like getting your slumlord to fix things in your apartment. I just hope when my grandma ships monday that she won’t get lost and she’ll actually have a burial since a ceremony would be useless because it’s been so long her body won’t...

We were visiting due to my friend's classmate who is buried here. Being from Maui but with fam on Oahu, I phoned my mom to ask if any loved ones were buried here. She confirmed that my grandparents on my dad's side (both of whom passed long before I was born) were here. Perfect! But how to find them? After locating my friend's classmate, I headed to the park's office. A super friendly and knowledgeable lady (sorry, I didn't get her name) assisted me and in 10 minutes time, their location was found. She was even nice enough to offer someone's personal assistance to show me the site which I declined. Thanks, aunty! The directions and signage were so good that I easily found them. Sadly, I didn't have any flowers to put in their empty vases this time, but I will definitely return. It was a chicken skin moment "meeting" them for the first time, as they are the roots of my Hawaiian & Chinese ancestry. THE CEMETERY: It's big, with great ocean and mountain views, the prettiest of any cemetery I've been to. I noticed a dedicated section for police officers too. The grounds were maintained and everything was lush due to the area's natural rain fall. There are several vehicular roads that wind through, making for easy access. OVERALL: Far from what the rest of the world offers, but one of the nicest in the 808!

Elsie Damaso, our Family Service Advisor, at Hawaiian Memorial Cemetery took such wonderful care of my Mom's final arrangements. We live in Canada and had to navigate much of the planning long distance and with a 6 hour time change. Elsie was so very respectful in every aspect of care that we couldn't have been felt more at ease. Everything was taken care of and she went over and above what we expected. The grounds at Hawaiian Memorial are beautifully maintained and all of the staff we encountered that day treated us with respect and professionalism. Mahalo nui loa to all the staff and especially to Elsie for making this day so very special for our family.

Beautiful day! I love you always💞 This place is special to me. My grandparents final resting places over 40 years. I expect the maintenance to be a priority and at it's best. More so that it will always be and expect it to be one of the most beautiful site that will live past anyone's life. May the keepers continue to cherish and remember the loved ones we leave in their care. Mahalo
