From Sydney, Australia. August 6, 2011. I am a female golfer playing off 22 played 1 worse than my hcp, husband off 5 played to his hcp. Course not difficult but made hard by the strong winds. Played on the weekend so rate was fairly expensive $170+tax /person and that didn't include some range balls to hit prior to game, they were and extra $5.00. They give a little gift of a towel and plastic bag tag. They do have twilight rates on weekend $80 after 3:30pm but I don't think you would finish. Service fantastic. People in pro shop helpful and very nice. If you want to hit balls before tee time they even drive you a few feet away to the driving range and then without calling them they come back to get you at your tee time on time. All carts are equiped with GPS which is a great help when you haven't played the course before. Course in fantastic condition, manicured wide fairways, trimmed trees, and hard fast greens. A drink and food cart wanders the course but could come around a little more frequently. There are some cold water stations around the course. Half way house sells basic food, but ok. After your round there is a spa, sauna and showers in both men's and women's locker rooms to relax in. Pro shop has a fantastic selection of items for both men and women. Would recommend this course to anyone who is willing to pay for it. We had a great day and...
Read moreMy biggest complaint was though they are daily fee course managed by Troon Golf, they refuse to honor any benefits earned in the Troon Rewards program. Members with Troon Platinum status are entitled to a 20% discount on green fees and merch purchases, and when mentioning that at check in, I was only greeted with an, "oh - well we dont do that here", and quickly rang up the full rate waiting for me to swipe. While many of the other top courses in the state (eg. Kaanapali and even Kapalua) offer this benefit, the management company shouldn't allow courses arbitrarily determine which benefits they decide to honor. The earned discount is honestly the whole reason I chose to play this course, and it honestly just seems like a decision to gouge the large population of Asian tourists and other visitors. Having to call ahead to every course just to check if they offer my entitled benefits when they are clearly listed on the Troon site makes no sense. Just left a very sour taste to start the day.
Course was in good condition and it was an overall enjoyable day, but a lot of the holes start to feel the same after a while (eg. Elevated tee box to a fairway with bunkers on both sides of the landing area. Back uphill shot...
Read moreWe recently had a grad party at this venue and it turned out amazing despite the terrible conditions we were put under. We were only given 1 hour to set up our whole grad party whilst there were guests from the party/lunch before still drinking at one of the tables. The banquet coordinator, Tracy, was of no help, not even letting us prepare outside the venue or extending our prep time. Not only was she of no help but were extremely rude and arrogant to our mother planning it and our guests/family. Yelling over the phone and talking down to a client really is not professional. We requested to have our prep time extended and we were met with rude remarks and attitude. The staff at the party were very helpful and very kind. Tracy DID NOT treat her own staff well either. At clean up tracy demanded our guests to sweep and clean or else they would add charges for the night. Simply put this party was great due to our ability to work around such conditions. Food and restaurant staff were great and would...
