East Gate Grocery — Local services in O'Fallon

Came here to buy ingredients to make kimchi at home and left with enough to make several batches. Staff were very kind, attentive, and helpful. We walked in with a recipe/grocery list in hand to make sure we grabbed everything and one of the staff looked over it to make sure it included all the needed ingredients. She nodded in approval and said it looked like a good recipe. She hooked us up with a massive head of napa cabbage (bigger than my head) and another large Korean radish. I was super pleased to be able to get everything needed for Kimchi just a few minutes from home- I expected to have to go to the St. Louis side to find most things.

In addition to our list, we found a couple of other treats to take home and try.

I heard great things about their bulgogi and hoped to order some during our grocery visit, but you have to call ahead. We will be back and better prepared next time.

As of May 2018, the store has moved. It is now located at 715 Lakepointe Center Drive, in O'Fallon, Il. about four minutes from the old location.

The store is lovely. They had exactly what I wanted and I was pleasantly surprised to find that their napa cabbage was half the price per pound that it was at Schnucks ($0.99 vs $1.99 per pound). Some of the items don't have prices on them, but dont be afraid to ask as the woman I talked to was very kind and helpful. I will definitely be coming...
