Staff somehow unable to replicate a problem that I've had EVERY SINGLE TIME I've plugged it in since I got it back. Their idea of reflashing my BIOS also included installing a new browser (and making it my default), changing my desktop and start menu settings, changing the task bar to add a menu of their material and links to their services, and installing a variety of other software that I didn't ask for (malware detectors, ad blockers, a PDF maker) because I already had comparable software on the machine. Now my machine is even more screwed up than before I took it in - I've still got the original problem, and I'm still working to identify and reverse all the changes they made to my settings. Plus they don't call when they say they will and they have no ability to estimate when jobs will be done. Diagnosing and fixing this should not have taken two weeks.
ETA 6/2020: I returned to the store several weeks later, after they saw this review, and they identified the source of the problem. They replaced the power adapter free of charge, with a request that I update the review. I am STILL finding things they installed and changes they made and haven't been able to get my desktop back the way I want it, but I've learned to live with it now. I feel bad for clients who don't complain and make a fuss and just live with what they're given. Read moreI came in to replace a broken hinge on my laptop. It was an external frame issue only and there was no reason for them to gain access to my computer and look through my files. Because of this I did not leave my password on their info sheet and when I told the gentleman at the desk this he said ok no problem. A few days later I got a call from the place with the same gentleman asking for my password. I said no thank you I only want the hinge replaced I won't be giving you my password. He said ok no problem. Well, a few days after that he calls me again asking for my password. By this point I was starting to feel uncomfortable. Why are you so interested in looking through my computer? I brought my laptop in just to fix a hinge. It was a bit of an invasion of privacy tbh but I gave him my password. A few days later he calls saying that he found 2 dozen viruses on my laptop and he'd charge such and such an amount to remove them. I said no thank you I only need he hinge replaced! (I had never noticed any strange behavior on my computer. Maybe the viruses were there maybe not but there were no consequences of not removing them so i'm skeptical). Read moreI've been in the store multiple times. Mostly for small odds and ends and never really had much of a problem so they were the first guys I called when my PC wouldn't turn on. I called them at the start of business on a Saturday and explained my problems to them. He said he had to get ahold of his tech to see if he was available that day. Its a weekend and there are only a few shops open in the area so I didn't want to wait long. I waited an hour until the other shops in town were open. I called back since they were supposed to call me back. First he said he had gotten ahold of the tech and quoted me a price, then when he realized I was a different guy he said he hadn't heard back from the tech and that he would call me the minute he heard back from the tech....I never got another phone call from them. I called up The Computer Room in Shiloh off of Frank Scott Parkway. I instantly drove to his shop, and within a half hour he had solved my issue along with another gentlemens. I understand short notice and I understand being busy but telling me you're going to call me back and never calling me back is what bothers me here.
