Formal Complaint / Public Review I’m really upset about what I witnessed at this Home Depot location during the recent heat wave. I stopped by multiple times and saw that the outdoor plants weren’t being watered—for four days straight. When the nursery associate returned, she was pulling out dead plants that could’ve absolutely been saved. It was heartbreaking. There were evergreens over 4 feet tall, completely brown and lifeless. Trees like that take years to grow—and to see them wasted like that, just because no one watered them, is incredibly sad and unnecessary. As someone who loves animals, plants, and all living things, I couldn't just watch this happen. I bought as many as I could just to save them. And I want to encourage others in our area to do the same—they're currently 50% off, and honestly, they need rescuing before they end up in the dumpster. If the store can’t staff someone to care for the plants during extreme weather, then please ask for volunteers or temporary help. Something must change. This was completely preventable, and it's not just about sales—it's about life, stewardship, and doing better.

We went to check out wood for a new deck. I'm planning on buying small amounts over the winter where I can have all the wood that I need to replace our back deck when springs arrive. As always, the wood is of great quality. I also purchased wood to build wood kitchen counters as well. I also found a great old fashioned ceramic kitchen sink that is going to look great with the wood counter tops. I've our plumber coming soon to estimate how he's going to install that kitchen sink soon. Friendly staff always! My next experience is going to buy cement, after one of their knowledgeable employees directs me to the right one to choose. I'll post the finished product because even though lumber is at its highest prices, if you've patience and buy little by little one can accomplish projects such as replacing a wooden deck, and the all natural wood counter tops.

Do not order appliances to Scott AFB from Home Depot. 3 days of attempting to get the delivery (Which meant hundreds in lost wages for our family), for the warehouse worker to finally admit that they didn't have employees who could access the base. (You only need a valid licence and not to be a felon or on a terrorist watchlist) Like y'all really don't have 2 drivers with a clean record and an ID? According to the Scott Community page, this is a well-known issue with Home Depot and they still don't care and keep selling things to us and lying and wasting our time. I think they just want us to get too annoyed that we (as the warehouse customer service worker said) just reorder them to pick up for yourself at the store. We don't have a truck though... So, we're waiting on management to find a solution for a 4th day of wasted time.

I do this in the hope no one ever has to endure what we went through. I know I am not the only one to have heard..trust the professionals at home depot. Which in the sum of $28,000+ we were prepared to do. Thankfully when we took $8,000+ check to start project they couldn't figure out how to take check from our bank. After 4+ hours and our top guy speaking to their checking department and in speaking with them they tried to get him to pay off $300.00 on some account nothing to do with us. So he asked to speak with manager who as ludicrous as this sounds still tried to get him to pay $300.00. Next morning at 8:00 a.m. Home Depot calling continuously because all of the sudden they could take the check. My husband wanted nothing more than to deal with Home Depot. This last big cherry colored disrespectful wrecking ball caused my husband to walk out of the store after 6+ hours of the final disrespect of a man who deserves the highest respect as all of you veterans and active duty deserve. He then went to Lowe's. Who has from the time he walked in the store been shown the respect he deserves. Also Lowe's was more than happy to respectfully and with even greater savings take our monies to purchase our lumber and things we needed. From building a new garage, roof our entire home, flooring and after the horrors of which was a mess and not a kitchen I could be proud of because she did a kitchen before even coming and measuring and this is something that HAS to be done. Before you turn your bid into the bank. Because you can not get an appropriate kitchen designed. What happened to me was after things were done and we turned everything into the bank my dishwasher and other appliances were not even included in the bid. With this particular problem which I discussed with the store manager I was told, and I quote "I should have done my research". Had I stayed with this horrible mess my green countertops would have been brown and my corner lazy susan would have been a recess cabinet. Please explain where I could do said research on their codes which are indecipherable codes to read as a lay person. Those are just two things I found out about. Which are major in and of themselves. My entire countertop brown instead of green. I was shown the lazy susan with the metal sides yet it wasn't even there. It may seem I am working hard to express my problems with this kitchen. The price of this kitchen is over $10,000. So I do not want anyone to endure what I have. I have since gone to Lowe's in Belleville, Illinois where they have an actual interior designer who is absolutely amazing and has taken what I had available money wise due to the errors of Home Depot and designed a beautiful kitchen that I am so proud of including my appliances. My interior designer went above and beyond. Home Depot simply has a program they follow whereas Lowe's personalizes your kitchen and has experience not an impersonal program. If I save one woman or man from what I endured this is worth it. While asking my husband to walk out of the store after what he was enduring. It was actually the best thing that could have happened to us. We pulled the entire $28,000+ and Lowe's turned the nightmare into a respectful and pleasant experience which continues to this day. I have spoke only of my kitchen. Not what we endured with flooring. If my husband had got the color I had picked out my flooring in bathroom and kitchen would not have been water resistant and this would have gone through my home. The carpeting which was not to have been appropriated in a bid until someone had come to our house to measure was in fact bid to us. Which we in turn gave to the bank. I was informed by Daniel the store manager that they shouldn't have done that. It was something he kept saying yet it occurred all through the store. While Daniel continued saying I should have done there job looking over what I was told I was getting. He also kept saying he wanted to come up with a resolution. We did...we...

Future customers I beg of you, DO NOT but an appliance from this Home Depot. All my husband and I wanted to do was buy a dishwasher and this place made that process an absolute nightmare. First of all, they have someone who has absolutely no clue how to use a computer taking orders in appliances. His typing skills were so poor I had to type our information into his computer myself. Then he somehow managed to wipe out over 300 dollars worth of gift cards during our transaction because he didn't know how to switch payment methods properly. Obviously he had no clue how to fix that, neither did the supposed ASM who I don't think was actually an ASM, neither did the lead/manager at the customer service desk. We FINALLY got to talk to a real manager after an HOUR of these incompetent people trying to figure out how to fix this and she got us our money back on our gift cards in just a couple of minutes and took off the charge for delivery. Not to mention the man who wiped our gift cards stood there making jokes the whole time the customer service desk lady was trying to fix his mistake, and just complained about he wanted to go home. Then comes our delivery date. When they arrived to install our dishwasher, the installation team made up a bunch of excuses on why they couldn't install it that were not listed ANYWHERE on our paperwork. It was very clear they just didn't want to do their job. Then when we called the store to complain and get our installation fee back, we were told the installation team was supposed to arrange for a plumber to come out since they "couldn't" install it. Guess what? They didn't do that either. Thank goodness we have a family member with a plumbing business or we'd be screwed. Then when we went to get our money back from the install fee, it took the customer service rep several phone calls to other people to get that refund done because the POS system is horrible and the employees don't know how to use it. I will say your customer service rep we spoke with regarding your horrible install team was great, and so was your ASM that fixed our gift card issue. Her name started with an R. Otherwise, this was the worst retail experience I've ever dealt with, and to top it off, the employees don't care. Every step of this process was horrible. O'Fallon Home Depot, TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES. Get employees who CARE ABOUT DOING THEIR JOBS RIGHT. Don't put computer illiterate people on jobs that require computers. You are lucky my husband uses Home Depot tool brands or we'd never set foot in Home Depot again. But even then it won't be your store for sure. Do better. And if anyone responds to this, I'm sure it'll just a be a generic sorry for your...

Regarding Rockwood inside of The Home Depot in O'Fallon, IL - 10 years ago we bought 4 beautiful wooden shutters. Fast forward - last fall 2021 we decided to complete the home with 6 more shutters. Our representative, Sheila Kraizer, was eager to help us out and seal the deal. We told her that we were previous customers and our paperwork should be in the system. She came to our home and took measurements. She never brought any product in to our home. She saw the previous product in our home. The 2nd installer came out and measured. He saw what we already had in the home and knew what we expected. We told him we were dealing with Sheila and happy with the exciting product. He was also the same installer 10 years ago. My husband and I also told Sheila several times verbally we wanted the same product as before. Not 1 time did Sheila ever tell us we could not get the product we already had. The deal was sealed in December of 2021. On February 11, 2022 the same installer came and only took 1 product off the truck. He knew as he stepped in our home that this was not what we wanted. Once my husband saw the product we were dumbfounded that it was the wrong product. All 6 were something we did not choose or ever see in a product sample or brochure or pamphlet. How she came up with the product is beyond us. We refused the product and told the installer to take it back. Mind you-they already billed my husband 3 weeks prior for the whole sum for product that was not delivered and installed. We have fought with Rockwood and The Home Depot about the charge and as of today, June 15, 2022, they said we signed for the product and are satisfied. THAT IS A TOTAL LIE!! We have no product and never signed for it. They have sent us paperwork and my husband's signature is all over many documents and dates are not correct on the documents of service. Please do not do any phone or email communication with them, they were do their own thing and bring you the product they want to and screw you over. --Tami and Jay Foster I HAD TO GIVE THEM A RATING TO POST. IT IS...
