We used this company for a tour of Yosemite National Park and were very displeased. This tour was completely misrepresented by Crossroads Tours.
To start, we were supposed to have a PRIVATE guided tour as we had six adults in our group. When the guide arrived to pick us up we found out that there would be four other strangers joining us on our "private" tour that we paid for.
Next, the van that we spent nine hours in was extremely uncomfortable. It was an outdated van with three rows of seating that 10 people were crammed in and could barely see out of the windows. The cloth seat covers were very scratchy, the seatbelts were in obscure areas and barely functional, the flooring was peeling up and held down by gorilla tape, the running board that was supposed to be used to step down on was broken, so instead we had a small plastic step stool that the guide had to take in and out so that we wouldn't fall out of the van, and there were no grab bars inside of the van to hold on to while we were being tossed around the winding roads!
Aside from the horrible van, the tour was supposed to include a four mile hike through the park. When we asked the guide when we would be going on the hike, he acted surprised and said that we should have told him that we wanted to do that, but that now we had missed our opportunity to. The website clearly lists a four mile hike in the itenerary details, it never mentioned that we had to give our guide a "heads up" in order to do it.
Another package option that we paid extra for was an included lunch at the Ahwahnee hotel. While the hotel was beautiful and the lunch was good, once we got there we found out that lunch only included $20 per person and a drink. Most things on the menu were over $20, leaving us with an outstanding balance.. We also found out that gratuity was not included, so we ended up paying $50 extra for our "included lunch".
To add to the nonsense, the park was not yet opened when we arrived, so the guide entered without paying. On the way out of the park, the guide asked if one of our family members had a senior pass so that he would be able to save on the cost of four people's entry into the park. Instead of even doing that, he sped up while exiting to avoid paying at all!
We paid $1,194 plus our additional $50 for lunch for six people to take this tour. With the amount that we paid for this, everything should have been seamless. This company is really ripping people off.
The only thing that somewhat made up for all of this was that our tour guide, Richard, was very personable and knowledgeable. It's unfortunate that he works for such a...
Read moreDue to covid a lot of us now are just traveling by car. We decided to finally make the drive to go visit Yosemite. However, you need a permit to enter and it’s not easy to get one. So your only other options are- stay at a hotel inside Yosemite or book a tour. We choose the latter. We had just left sequoia and made the drive to Fresno. I’m so glad I found a tour company that would pick us up there and save me driving time to the park myself. I was a bit leery booking this tour. There wasn’t many reviews and due to covid I was worried about it being cancelled and not being able to get my money back. However after calling and speaking with a nice Indian lady it eased my mind. She helped me book our tour over the phone. We got an email confirmation as well. I can only speak of the tour from Fresno to Yosemite. It was a bit longer than I expected. We got picked up at 8:15am sharp and had to pick up one other family. We didn’t get into the actual park until about 11am. Our tour guide Ron was great! Very informative, kind and patient. He took us to all the must see sights and we never had to deal with parking he would just drop us off and give us about an hour to explore each sight. We didn’t get back to our hotel until about 7pm. I had 2 kids with me they had a wonderful time. The tour included a picnic lunch of a deli sandwich (good quality not subway) a banana, chips, a cookie and bottled water. It was very good and we loved the picnic spot by the creek. Overall booking the tour was the best decision I made! The drive in Yosemite has a lot of switch backs and the road is very narrow. It was so nice to be able to relax, enjoy the scenery without the stress of reading a map. I would totally do this again! Thanks crossroad tours for an amazing experience we will never forget the beauty...
Read moreI don’t even know where to start with the unprofessionalism and lack of communication. My husband and I are in California for our honeymoon and decided we wanted to take a day tour in Yosemite. This company was a headache from the get go. We called and talked to Ramji the day we booked and he confirmed our departure location for our 8AM departure the next day, though gave us the incorrect name of the hotel/meeting point. The website lists several departure locations and does not specify where they pick-up from. Our cell phone service hasn’t been great, since we are close to the park and from out of town. When we woke up the next morning to head out, we had an email indicating that our tour wasn’t running and they were putting us on another tour, one leaves an hour earlier. We were staying about an hour from the pickup location and couldn’t possibly have made it on time. The email stated, “please call if you would like to change to a private tour or cancel the tour”. Because of the short notice, I called to cancel. I spoke to Ramji again, who provided no solution. He said “we gave you enough notice” and indicated that we were made aware of the early departure time. He refused to cancel, DESPITE the fact that it wasn’t even the same tour. Ramji was very unprofessional in the way he spoke to me and hung up on me. Luckily, we booked through Viator, who was able to refund us and find us a new tour with a different company.
My advice: steer clear of this tour company if you can, because they will change your plans without notification. If you do have to book with them, make sure it is through a third party company who can assist you when this...
