This is almost the halfway point between Tunnel view and Glacier point and is in my opinion the climax of an eyegasm. Nature at its absolute best. If you can make it here then you will most likely be all alone with the exception of the company you traveled here with and for a brief cherishable moment in your existence all of life’s problems and BS temporarily slip away as you take in and try to comprehend and bathe in the picture that stands before you. To even try and describe any of these locations along this trail whether in words or by pictures just insults the magnificence and magnitude of the experience that’s waiting for you, but I do so to inspire and to share with others in hopes that I can encourage someone who wouldn’t otherwise do so. Read moreDid the snowshoeing tour to Dewey point from ski area. First, the views are spectacular overlooking the entire Yosemite valley and mountains. Now on to the journey to get there - it was our first time doing snowshoeing. Walking in snow is tougher than usual. The trek to Dewey point and back is roughly 7.2m in total. If you are not in shape, it will be a strenuous hike with couple of uphill treks. First mile is on a paved road and the next mile is through the summer Meadows and last 1.5m is through ups and downs getting elevation. Be sure to take energy bars, water and snacks. You need them. Pace yourself - be the tortoise...whole journey would take 5-6 hours. Last shuttle bus back to valley is at 4:30pm and I saw there were multiple buses and...
Read moreQuite a hike from McGurks meadow trail head on Glacier point road - about 4 miles. As an unfit 60 yr old, I found the incline after the meadow tough as it is uneven and mostly stream bed type trails. A bit wet in places and three flowing streams to cross (in June). But well worth the view/vista once you reach Dewey point. The meadows are teaming with small wildlife. I saw a Weasel capture a meadow Mouse. Plants and flowers at this time of year were in abundance. It took me 2.5 hours to reach the point, and just over 2 hours returning. Younger and fitter will fare better, depending on conditions. Not a highly populated trail, I only saw about 15 - 20 people, there and...
