This seems like more of a seconds storage facility than a true outlet store. I was really excited to browse the Anthro home outlet, thinking pieces would be heavily discounted from their online prices - that I'd been looking at one offs, discontinued, or heavily damaged and in need of tlc goods with fair prices to match. NOPE. As are most products from this company, everything looked pretty cool (hence the 2 stars) but was waaaaaaay too expensive especially with so many pieces having huge defects.
Many of the items I saw (or similar and almost identical styles) can be found for less and in better condition on Anthropologie's own website during special sales, plus you can get them delivered to your doorstep when you order online. It's my understanding that you have to arrange your own transportation/delivery from this location.
Like many things at Anthropologie, with an ounce of style and ingenuity you can find similar pieces at thrift, vintage and antique stores - most often of better quality, rarer, and that will better retain their value. For instance, I saw a bunch of antique wooden hand mirrors priced in the $80-$85 range; You can find these exact same style/era ebony hand mirrors on Etsy for $20-$35 including shipping. Even if Anthro bought those mirrors full priced on Etsy, that mark-up would be well above standard retail especially in an outlet setting. It just seems like bad business and taking advantage of customers.
Also, I was in the store for about 45 minutes and never had anyone approach me to offer assistance or even acknowledge my presence. So, points against service.
I'm not saying I won't be back. Anthropologie stores are always a good place to visit, just for general inspiration and to kill some time. But, if they want better reviews, I'd suggest they change the name from "Anthropologie Outlet Store" to "Anthropologie Home Store", carry the general home goods at full price, and have a regular sales section for the seconds. I wouldn't have been disappointed if I'd visited an Anthro home store instead of an outlet store - my expectations would've been completely different. Calling this an outlet store is setting customers up for...
Read moreSuch a cool vibe! Always changing with fun displays. Can get really good deals with the right promotion.
Things to keep in mind when shopping here which most are included in their instagram’s FAQs: -Despite google’s incorrect descriptor, this is a furniture store. Not the clothing store. The clothing store is in East End Bakery Square and Mt. Lebanon. -This is an outlet which means just because Anthropologie sells it does NOT mean it’ll be available at the outlet. Also the nature of an outlet is fast turnover of product. Unfortunately just because something was on Instagram in the morning does not mean it’ll be there later that day. If you call or DM, an employee will let you know! -Items can be damaged. The merchandise comes from varying sources such as customer returns, surplus, samples, and damaged products. Everything is at least 40% marked down from retail and is marked down more for serious damage. Get crafty! -No loading staff. Employees will help when they can, but don’t rely on this or expect it. Come with muscle 💪 -No delivery. There are third party services that can be used. You can buy something and arrange for later pick-up. -All sales final. No exchanges. They have multiple signs posted that say this. An exception will be made for a lighting fixture that doesn’t work when you get home...
Read moreWhere do I even begin?!? If I could give zero stars I would. My spouse had a work trip so we decided to drive up from DC in hopes that we may find stuff. This place is a dump and I’m actually dumbfounded that people are shopping/raving about this place.
Bottom line— If you are a local, maybe you can go weekly and score a nice item here and there. For anyone who is driving more then 20-30 minutes to come to this place…. Please don’t! Save you self time, gas, money and disappointment. Please, if you really want something that bad, then go to anthro and buy from their directly when they have sales Don’t waste any time here. I should have just ordered online during the sale myself. Sincerely, An avid...
