One of my favorite places on the planet, it's a shame that the permanent glacier that used to mirror the lake with deep shades and majestic hume's of the deepest soul affirming blue "glacier fed stream" has been pretty much left in dirty snow and dust, the marmots seem to be all but gone same for the mountain lions however the stout and hearty mountain goats were still present given the touristas are scant and quite. Washington Pass is a MUST see in WA state!! It is particularly charming in the first few days and weeks after the pass has reopened for Spring and Summer travel. The climax of this drive is Liberty Bell Mountain and it can be seen from the Washington Pass Observation site (restrooms and day use picnic tables there) and from various pull-offs and trailheads along the hairpin section of the pass. I mean this is an iconic place even without the history of Fred Becky and the other pioneer climbers that conquered this mountain before highway 20 existed. The climbs are varied from easy 5.6 to some 5.9s that feel harder and come with legit exposure. I would suggest the weekdays if possible as the weekend the Becky Route will be packed...
