We were there two days for the Fall Mixed Sale, including Sunday (which Google Maps showed as closed). Parking is a breeze, for buyers, visitors and horse sellers with their beautiful, big trailers - everything close by. The sale pavilion rivals the biggest and most impressive in the nation.
My only complaint is that, by around 3 pm every day, the concentrated ammonia smells in the staging arena, and undoubtedly coming from the attached barn areas, were just overpowering for us humans - which means the fumes were also bad for horses' eyes and mucuous membranes. More fans are desperately needed to suck out these smells and fumes.
Luckily, the adjacent restaurant and bar do not suffer from the urine smell that lingers in the equine staging area. Food was great, but not enough of the prepared stuff was available in the deli shelves, so it as difficult to find things to eat when we...
Read moreWe attended the Junk Hippy event here. We were exceptionally disappointed to discover the place is not accessible. Many of the vendors placed their goods in the stalls. Not only are the doors too narrow, but there is also a metal lip that a wheelchair cannot cross. The rest of the vendors were in the arena which is a deeply and loosely packed rubber substrate that is not possible to cross in a wheelchair. We tried to let the organizer of the event know that it's very important that their ads, or at least the folks at the admission table, let people know about the inaccessibility. She was upset and kept telling us she couldn't change venues or remodel the building. We tried very hard to get her to understand we didn't expect that.
