Horrible Experience - The management is terrible! In my opinion, there are way too many nice golf courses in the area to spend money at this one. All things considered, I thought this was really sad and unfortunate because the course was nice. They desperately need a change in management and management policies (which might help explain part of the reason why the course was basically empty on a Friday afternoon in the summer). We had an issue with rain (which happens a lot in the mountains in the summer - the rain was unexpected and came out of no where). We thought the rain would pass - as if often does, but this time it didn't. We call the pro-shop (from the course) and talked to David. We explained the situation and he said he would try to work with us and to stop by the pro-shop. We could not finish playing because the rain got worse so we went to the pro-shop and he told us that management would not allow him to do anything - even something small - like a minor discount on the next round. We weren't asking for much - just a small "token" or something small to basically say "we know you could not finish, but we really want you to come back again type thing" - but they REFUSED! Talk about bad customer service!! It bothered me a lot that they said they would work with us and then didn't - not even in small customer service kind of way. They had a few other "policies" or "rules' that I had never experienced at other golf courses and that I thought were really petty on their part. I understand the need for rules and policies, but I also know that successful businesses have to be flexible and work with customers on occasion - at least if they want to keep customers coming back. We have a cabin in the area, but we won't be back to this golf course. I really don't fault David in the pro-shop, he was only doing what he was told. As I said, they desperately need to make some changes in Management - before it...
Read moreHad the pleasure of playing at Apple Valley last week. The course was in outstanding condition and the staff were friendly. The pace of play on the other hand was abysmal. A group of 23 went out about a half an hour before our tee time. My group caught them in 3 holes and was stuck behind them for the remainder of the round. I understand that the groups pace of play is not the golf course’s fault, but there was no course ranger or starter to inform this massive group that they needed to pick up the pace. This round took 5 hours and we barely made it through 18 before sunset. Overall the golf itself was very good, but the lack of a course ranger and fast play tainted...
Read moreApple Valley is a stunning course right near Rumbling Bald. The course is beautiful with raised tee boxes and rolling fairways. Difficult course to read if you’ve not played it before, and I had to use a mobile GPS to know where I was hitting, but supremely fun course to say the least! Great greens, long fairways, streams and ponds, amazingly well kept bunkers. Course had it all.
Staff was awesome - shoutout to Kathy and Frankie for greeting us with energy and making us feel welcome! Loved the experience and will play again the first...
