I went with a horticulture professional and he was generally impressed with the gardens. He noted that one of the trees outside of the rose garden didn't appear to be properly managed, with the mulch piled up too high around the base of the tree.
From an amateur perspective, it was a wonderful experience and I was able to learn quite a bit from the informational signs. For example, the tea rose is the standard rose used in flower arrangements, and is cultivated to have long stems and full petal displays.
