We visited this shelter this past weekend and were excited to look for a new member to our family. The elderly grey haired lady at the front desk was unbelievably rude. I was so taken back by her behavior and the way she would talk to visitors coming in. I don't get how someone so unhappy and grumpy would be aloud to work in a place that should be pleasant and welcoming in hopes of encouraging support for the animals. Instead she was rude, unwelcoming and just seemed like we were bothering her. We had been visiting shelters that morning with our small Chihuahua in hopes of adopting a buddy for her. We all know you are not allowed to take the dogs into the caged animal area. So my husband was planning on going in first and seeing if he saw any suitable dogs that we might want to introduce her to as we sat in the waiting area. First words spoken were "you can't take that dog in the back". Not a good afternoon, nothing. We explained that my husband was going in not myself and my dog. I sat there directly in front of her desk and she didn't speak a word after that. She just kept her head down until someone came in. And was really rude to the next crowd of people. I must say, the volunteer that assisted us with meeting little peanut was the best! She was so loving and welcoming and such a pleasant person. Thank goodness for her. I'm glad she's the person caring or interacting with the animals and not the front office staff. This bothered me so much I just had to make a comment. There's something wrong with the front office staff. It was like they were trying to intimidate us and discourage us from adopting....

The vaccination prices were very cheap and helps me save a lot of money but the only complaint was that one of the ladies working there was rude and didn't really seemed experienced. I took my cat and my two dogs and settled my cat on the table. (Since my cat would run away from the noises of the cars we kept him the cage when we settled him onto the counter) She opened the cage door and tried to get my cat out but there was no use. I insisted in helping her bit she opened the needle already and without any hesitation, decided to vaccinate my cat in the cage. Note that it is very dangerous to vaccinate an animal while it was in the cage because since there was little room. the animal could get startled from the needle and move around. Causing injury and accidently vaccinating the animal on the wrong part. Which it did happen. My cat got startled and moved around and when the lady finally got my cat she quickly vaccinated him. With my two dogs, one of them started barking at the lady and growling but I can tell you that she didn't bite the lady. (It was my pups first time going to the vet) Then it was my other dog's turn. The lady finished up and when we were heading out the lady shouted out to me that my animals were bad and that she wouldn't handle them ever again. But she mostly made them turn aggressive. My cat was vaccinated the wrong way. They lady litterly pinned my puppy down to the table with force that made my dog upset. And my other dog started yapping when the needle was injected and the lady started getting annoyed and gave me this look like she...

Vaccinations Review only!

CASH ONLY!

If you are looking for inexpensive vaccinations for your fur friends and are willing to drive and wait, check this place out!

Please call in advance for time and dates, they don't seem to change often but once in a great while they do reschedule the regular times and dates. Allow your self a good amount of time to be there, it does get very crowded with customers and some customers do have multiple animals so that can take extra time. Prices for vaccinations range from $8- $10 and you can't beat that price anywhere. I have one small dog and I have been getting his vaccinations at his vet only because it is local to where I live and even though this is a bit of a drive and wait time it's definitely worth saving some money. You will receive the exact same vaccinations other places will charge an arm and a leg for and also receive poof of vaccinations, they say hold on to your copy of vaccinations because they don't keep or save the originals if you ever needed it. Staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable if you have any questions.

Locations is located off a Main Street with a few parking shots in the lot where the facility is located, if it's full there is ton of street parking right down the main road but that does get a bit overwhelming due to lots of cars driving and parking so be careful and park safe.

FYI...

We decided to right this post in memory of our Gizmo. We adopted him about 12 years ago from West End Shelter for Animals when we were only 19 years old. He gave us the best 12 years of our lives and we wanted to THANK YOU, for giving my baby a home in the time he was with you guys, before we found him and adopted him. Reading some of the reviews we also wanted to rectify some of the claims made by some reviewers. The adoption process is easy, and even 12 years ago they verified making sure that our apartment complex at the time allowed dogs. They made sure he was a good fit for us, and us for him. (He was a dog that would not do well with children given his background from when he was obtained). And guess what people after 15 years of life that never changed and that’s okay. This is exactly what dog owners should want/expect from animal shelters, to explain and understand what these animals need and what environments they will thrive in. The point is to make sure these animals don’t wind up back into the foster/shelter system. At the end when we are ready we would be thrilled to see if we find a little fur baby here once again. They care about their animals and only want the best for them. I always recommend this shelter because I found my little love here so many years ago.

4 stars because i found my newest fur baby here. That being said... The lady at the front desk seemed annoyed at having to interact with my mom, my daughter's, and myself. That waz kind of a bummer. The worst was an older woman who volunteers there. When we asked to take a closer look at the dog we were interested in adopting she also seemed annoyed. When going into the enclosure to get the dog, she SMACKED the other puppies away, and it wasn't just a gentle nudge. Then while she tried to chase the feral cats out of the visiting area she yelled at my kids and I to get out of the way. We weren't even in the way! Reguardless of the humans behavior we fell in love with the newest member of our family and took her home the same day.

We got our Luna here about 2 weeks ago and she has been the best addition to our family. Poor baby was there for along time so you can imagine how closed off she was when we first went to visit her but we fell in love with her and by the second time we went she opened up so much. We brought her home that day and she immediately was at home. She is now a spoiled baby in our house playing with her human siblings and running around lien she owns the place. Luna loves cuddles, Mickey Mouse stuffed animals and pup cups. Thank you for the opportunity to have this beautiful girl in our family.
