I LOVE this place.
Stumbled on it during a road trip. Pulled over for gas, walked into the small, dingy window, older supermarket to ask about a restroom. Was told it was in the restaurant. I walked over by the gas pumps and looked into the dingy windows there. There WAS a restaurant in there. I opened the door expecting the worst, and was so pleasantly surprised.
The restaurant is a very old-style, pre-highway (1922, I believe), roadside stop. It's an interesting and authentic mix of wood paneling, original lunch counter, wooden tables and vinyl chairs, racks of snacks and interesting doodads, liquor for sale behind the counter, skulls, skins, and pelts on the walls, a stuffed black fox on a shelf, along with old photos and signs on the walls, racks of authentic old-style aluminum pots for sale, Cajun-muttering regulars sitting at tables, and a 135 pound stuffed snapping turtle under glass.
The place is GREAT. It's a time machine to a time and place long gone.

They have fresh (sometimes) hot boudin (sometimes) everyday but today it may be so peppered you can’t taste anything but fire and tomorrow it may taste like rice and water with no seasonings or taste like a...
