Ok so this placed used to be great under Live Preferred. Nice events with good food, proper coffee, very very clean. They were also super nice.
With Champion, this staff is honestly just annoying and lacks common sense. I’ve lived here since the building was first opening. My apartment is super small, nice appliances but that’s it. The walls are thin, electricity is through a scam of a company called Pioneer Energy Management (PEM), no choice here. They charge fees for everything ( common area electric , amenity etc). These management companies get a round about kick back from these “sub metering companies” it is NOT AEP( not to be confused with APL, another scummy company). Do your own research on submetering companies and live somewhere that you go directly through the electric company. You and your neighbor will be charged arbitrary rates that are Not what AEP has, they even have a submetering calculator.
Don’t let the “niceness” fool you. It’s a cheaply put together building that actually collapsed in 2019/2020 as it was being built.
The current rates are NOT worth it. Move to a building when it’s new and needs to fill occupancy. They get it full and sell it, you get a discount. And you move again.
I’m out as soon my lease expires. They blame everything on “apartment living”, should not be able to hear my neighbors do their business. Live preferred made everything nice with just ambiance and such ( torches at the entrance , scented hallways) just be cognizant of all this. Ardent Properties builds and develops most of these properties with shady licensing ( the doors have a maximum daily rate and it’s technically an extended stay hotel).
The tenants are generally nice and polite, the area is good and safe. It’s really the management that is the biggest pain and the money suck they try. It’s really on the company though, people are people but they are bounded by their bosses. The policies are dumb and they will tell you anything to get you to sign. Again it’s business, be smart though....
Read moreI recently moved into The Caldera House in Lewis Center, OH (with my puppy) and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the community, the top-notch Property Managers (Huge shoutout to Marina and Brittni!-- they worked their magic to get me moved in within 1 business day!!) and the entire Champion team that has made our move-in experience so easy. I have lived in various apartments in Northeast and Central Ohio, and this has been, by-far, the most welcoming experience. Marina and Brittni go above-and-beyond to make Caldera feel like home. (My dog, Benny, instantly fell in love with this space… and loves the daily belly-rubs and treats he gets from the lobby!)
Here are some highlights of what I love about Caldera/Champion: -Everything is modern and spotless. I swear, they must infuse the air with fresh scents, because it smells amazing! -Starbucks machine available 24/7 (with full coffee, tea, refreshment bar) -Plenty of space to walk my dog (with a ton of pet-designated areas) -Gorgeous landscaping/decorations -Super clean apartment upon move-in -Everyone in the community is friendly/ greets each other -Amazon locker for packages -Pool and fire pits (closed for the season, but can’t wait until they are open again!) -24/7 Gym -Perfect location to travel anywhere in Greater Columbus in about 25 mins or less
If you are on the fence about Caldera, I’d recommend coming in for a tour. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for the perfect place to call Home in the next chapter. You won’t regret it! (If location-wise isn’t the best, I hear that the other Champion properties around Columbus are just as impressive!). I will be a long-term tenant, for sure!

Read moreVery unfortunate experience at this property after living here 3 years, I broke my lease early and thank God I did. First off, the overall property exterior and interior looks pleasing and the staff is generally friendly. If you are looking for SAFETY, please listen closely. Don’t walk, run to another property.
I have had my car broken into more times than I can count. This latest smash and grab is my final straw, I am paying many months of rent just repairing my car windows and they absolutely ruined my car interior upholstery in attempts to steal the vehicle. I am not the only one, numerous people have had their car windows smashed into and things stolen or overall cars vandalized on this property.
My car was parked directly in front of the main entrance of the leasing office, and they don’t have any camera footage to help with the police report. No garages available to keep your car safe. When I asked for advice from management, and I quote “LEAVE YOUR CAR DOOR UNLOCKED SO THEY CAN COME RIGHT IN AND NOT HAVE TO SMASH THE WINDOW”
So make it easier to steal your car is your best bet when living here? My wife and I have lost sleep trying to watch our cars in our last few weeks living here, I ended up paying hundreds of dollars to put the cars in storage off site and am now ubering to work so I don’t have to keep repairing my car or worse, have it stolen due to property negligence.
This would be a great property if they figured out how to keep their residents cars safe, my feedback is to simply hire 24/7 security like other places asa deterrent if there’s no gate on this property. For safety reasons, I would not recommend this apartment to my...
