Stappa is the absolutely cutest vineyard I have been to in CT and trust me I've been to several when living in state. However, I was in town and grab lunch with my bestie and whenever we are together, wine is usually always on the list. She recommended her favorite winery Stappa after an afternoon lunch on the water. The vineyard is quaint but has everything you need. There was only one other patron at the time of our arrival, so it was nice to have the place just about all to ourselves. When arriving, Alexa was on the phone handling a business call but greeted us. She took a moment to assist us between her call and was as sweet and patient as can be. If you visit places like this vineyard you should definitely take the time and learn about its history. What they accomplished here is a great American story. A hard working Italian immigrant couple’s dream came true their through heritage.
Don’t give the 3 stars and tell nice things about them, like some of these comments here. Remember this is not a restaurant, it’s a vineyard.
I know wine and drink wine enough to humbly say no one can master wine. Cause it can be a very personal palate choice.
Try this place during a week day enjoy the nature and the green outside. Get a flight and try the reds and get another flight for whites. I’m sure you will find your palate in one.
More importantly enjoy the nature and realize how much hard work put in that glass for you to enjoy that sip.
