My teenage sons and I have been on six different tours with Carolina Safari Company. We moved here five years ago from Texas and we wanted to explore our new state, were not sure where to start and thankfully we found CSC. After booking online, every adventure started with clear communication via email with details from what to bring, map of where to meet, what to expect from the tour, etc. Upon arrival Captain Zach debriefed us and we always felt that we were in safe capable care. When I asked my boys what have been their favorite tours thus far they mentioned these four tours with the most enthusiasm: Hellbender Snorkeling, Bison Ranch, Strand Feeding Dolphins and Micro Fishing with seine and dip nets. However, I can honestly say all six tours have been amazing and we look forward to booking our next one. It is clear that Carolina Safari Company is passionate about conservation and increasing our knowledge about local wildlife and ecosystems. I highly recommend CSC for anyone looking to explore nature and...
Read moreMy family went on a Purple Martin cruise with Captain Zach in July. I have lived in the Lexington area over 50 years but have never seen the Martins roosting. It was a great experience. Captain Zach was extremely knowledgable about the wildlife on and around Lake Murray and showed us Osprey, Herons, Grackle, as well as the Purple Martins. He explained migratory information about the birds, eating and nesting/roosting habits. Captain Zach was an outstanding guide--personable, knowledgable, and funny. We are looking into joining him on some more excursions in the future! I highly recommend Carolina Safari Co. and...
Read moreI've been on a few trips with Captain Zach, and he's becoming my go-to for when I have out-of-town friends visiting or want to venture farther afield than usual. The trips are well-organized and small enough to be comfortable and conversational.
What I appreciate most, though, is that he doesn't just offer regularly scheduled tours, but specific experiences rooted in the local environment and time of the year. From an island where purple martins congregate by the thousands before migrating, to agricultural fields where swallowtail kites teach their chicks to hunt, to WMA lakes and ponds just after they reopen to the public and just before the ducks and other waterbirds fly north - they're always a chance to see and learn something special about this part...
