Government Island is a odd place for a visit, unless you want to have that almost totally alone feeling. It's a great rest stop if you find yourself kayaking on the Columbia River. There is only one way to get onto the island even though the Interstate 205 bridge running north and south does use it as an anchor spot between Washington and Oregon.
