This is one of the more iconic courses in Central Oregon. It is a hitter's course, and the layout is challenging yet there is potential for success.
However, there is one HUGE drawback to this course. DO NOT set up a tee time past 4:00pm if you are a slow golfer. They WILL close the clubhouse and parking lot at 8:00pm.
We had a tee-time for 4:00pm during summer hours. All was going well, it was a beautiful day in C.O. and we came up to the 14th green at about 7:45pm (we were taking our time and enjoying the sunshine). We were greeted by two young men in a cart who seemed to work there. They told us to pack up our stuff and head into the clubhouse because they were closing the property. We asked why they were kicking us off so soon and tried to reason with them. We even offered one of them to take our cart and we would finish the round on foot, but they did not abide. They said we had to leave the property and they had to shut the parking lot gate by 8:00pm, which we were parked in. 8:00pm??? In Central Oregon, on a sunny June day it doesn't get dark until 9:00pm at least. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any other course will literally kick you off the property (walking or riding) at a certain time BEFORE DARK. We tried to reason with the pro shop employee, asking for a pro-rated refund or a voucher or something, because nothing is written on the website or in the clubhouse about the course closing and property evacuation by 8:00pm. No disclaimer, no asterisk for late tee times, no nothing. The man was extremely stubborn and tried to make it sound like it was our fault for playing so slow. REALLY?!
It baffles me that they even have tee times available at 5:00pm. Personally, I like to enjoy myself and take my time when I play golf, especially when I'm paying over $50 to play a round of golf.
Word to the wise, if you like playing fast golf, Lost Tracks is a fun course. DO NOT come here if you are an average-speed golfer who actually wants to finish a full round while not feeling rushed in the afternoon and avoid being booted from...
Read moreDisappointing Pace of Play Mars Otherwise Enjoyable Course at Lost Tracks Our men's group played Lost Tracks Golf Course on July 12th with a 10:30 AM tee time, and while the course itself offered some enjoyable challenges, the excruciatingly slow pace of play significantly detracted from our experience. We didn't finish our round until 3:50 PM, an unacceptable duration for a mid-morning tee time. We understand that golf courses can get busy, but the lack of engagement from management regarding pace of play was truly frustrating. We called the clubhouse twice to request assistance from a marshal, especially after being told earlier that the tee sheet ahead of us had some open spots. Unfortunately, our pleas seemed to go unheard. Upon finishing our round, a very nice gentleman informed us that management wasn't present, and he himself couldn't locate the marshal when he arrived at 1 PM. This indicates a clear oversight in course management and supervision. We were also advised that the average pace of play for Lost Tracks on a busy day can be five hours, which is certainly something to consider if you're planning a round. On a positive note, the course itself was in decent shape. It boasts a good variety of fun doglegs, some challenging water features, and a nice difficulty level that would appeal to the average golfer. If the pace of play issues were addressed, Lost Tracks has the potential to be a highly enjoyable round. However, given our recent experience with the exceptionally slow pace of play and the apparent lack of proactive management, we would strongly recommend considering other golf courses in the Bend area for your afternoon outing, unless you have ample time to spare. There are many other opportunities in the region, and we believe a more efficiently run course would provide a much more...
Read moreWell it’s been over two weeks since I attempted to play here. Reason for a one star is simple. I was 30 mins early to my tee time, booked through golf now. Upon check in the attendant behind the counter was extremely rude and seemed irritated when I told them I paid through golf now. Went to the range to await my call to the tee box but was never called up. Tee time passed by 5 minutes and I inquired why they had not called me up. The response I got was that I missed my tee time with no other reason. I asked about a refund and they said I’d have to go through golf now and that they’d honor it. Well I have now gone through golf now and they have stated the Proshop attendant has now lied and said I played all 18 along with another twosome which is down right BS. I never even teed off on the first hole. I will be escalating this matter beyond golf now app and to the BBBA. This is an outrageous way to treat golfers especially a fellow...
