Almost perfect experience, but the only negative thing is enough to keep me from coming back or suggesting to others without a disclaimer.
I genuinely hate to write this review because of how much we enjoyed our time there. The atmosphere and food, the wine and the staff, were all so great and were exactly what we were looking for. The wine maker and his friends were sitting near us and were kind enough to tell us about the wine and the area, and even gifted us a bottle of wine! The cheese board was incredible and the views were beautiful.
The problem was a conversation that we were forced to overhear that the wine maker and his friends were having. Short of walking away or talking loudly over them, we couldn’t have opted out. I won’t go into detail here and I won’t give a one star because I’m not writing this as a punishment, I’m just hoping to give a reminder.
Everyone has the right to their differing opinions, but having a conversation about the weaknesses of a specific demographic while seated next to multiple people of that demographic can be hurtful and alienating to your customers. I was having a great time, and it was so disheartening to hear your comments and to leave feeling frustrated and upset. Of course challenging your statements was an option, but getting into a potentially heated debate with strangers isn’t always at the top of my list when on a getaway.
Anyway, I think he will know what I’m talking about, and I’m not asking for a change of opinions or anything, just a bit of awareness about who is around when talking about sensitive topics. I was loving it there and left feeling pretty...
Read moreI recently visited Melrose Vineyard in Oregon and was blown away by the experience! From the moment I arrived, the friendly staff made me feel welcome and comfortable. The vineyard itself was stunningly beautiful, with rows of vines and rolling hills in the distance.
But the real highlight of my visit was the Pinot noir. I'm a big fan of this variety, and I can honestly say that Melrose's Pinot noir was one of the best I've ever tasted. It had a deliciously complex flavor profile, with notes of cherry, earth, and spice, and a subtle tannic structure that made it incredibly drinkable.
What impressed me most, though, was the passion and care that went into making this wine. The staff at Melrose clearly take great pride in their work, and it shows in every sip. They use sustainable and organic farming practices, and aim to let the fruit speak for itself, resulting in a wine that truly reflects the terroir of the region.
Overall, I highly recommend Melrose Vineyard to anyone looking for a top-notch vineyard experience. The wine is fantastic, the people are friendly and knowledgeable, and the setting is...
Read moreMy wife and I sampled wines and made our own Brats last night. The Brat making class was limited to 24 people and at the end of the event you got to take home a five pound bag of great sausages. The minute we walked into the tasting room we were greeted by the owner and his staff and issued aprons, gloves and a wine glass for sampling.
We were shown how to remove the bone from a pork shoulder and then with the flashing of knives each student demonstrated their skill at deboning a pork shoulder of their own.
Over the next two hours we participated in every step of the sausage making process finishing with the stuffing of the hank. In addition to learning how to make our own brats, we sampled wines with ample pours, made some new friends, ate some brats at the cheese and fruit table while totally enjoying the evening.
Even with the case of wine that the wife purchased it was cheaper than driving a 200 mile round trip to Eugene for...
