Me and some buddies came into town and thought it would be great to play a top of the line course out here in Portland area so we found pumpkin ridge and only heard great things about it so we went online and checked the website and tee time was $145 on the website and we thought ahh that’s pretty pricy for a tee time in the area but let’s do it and when we got to the course and we came to the pro shop and the guy told us it was $224 and I looked at him and laughed out loud thinking he was joking but he giggled with me and said no it’s really $224. The website is so misleading it’s ridiculous! Me and some buddies went to Palm Springs and played 3 $150+ courses there and those courses were phenomenal. If I’m paying $220 for a tee time I’m expecting to hit range balls better then marathons. At all the other luxury courses I played the range balls at those courses were all titleist prov1 practice balls and practice chrome softs. We came to pumpkin and there was no one at the bag drop waiting for us which also at any luxury course I’ve been to they are waiting for us with carts with our names ready for us with the coolers on the side loaded with water bottles and ice. The staff was awesome at pumpkin ridge but that’s about the only thing they had going for them. There wasn’t even a starter we just drove to the first tee and tee’d off without checking in anywhere. Like what is even a GHIN?!? If I knew that they charged $20 to use the chipping and putting greens I wouldn’t have used them. I rolled maybe 10 puts and chipped 3 balls and got charge $20 which is ridiculous! Ive played courses for $40 and genuinely can’t tell you the difference between pumpkin and those courses. To charge $220 for a tee time there is a joke and I don’t think I’ll ever play here again unfortunately. If you believe that your course is amazing and really worth the price then just take off all the extra fees and charges like range balls and just make the tee times $180 for if your walking $190 if you are renting a push cart and $224 if you are renting a cart. Having all the extra charges is just flat out ridiculous. If you believe that your course is amazing and phenomenal then you don’t need to miss lead people on...
Read moreThe golf course was very nice, however, for being a public golf course, it's lacking in areas. The professionalism here is not there as they don't greet everyone the same. We looked past this because we wanted to enjoy our round. Although we were just over scheduled time to play the course, we had to wait for a group in front of us that were very entitled. This group didn't play ready golf, and they were a full hole behind the group in front of them. This caused a huge delay, and we had people behind us hitting into us because they thought we were backing everything up. By the time we reached the 12th hole, the group in front of us decided to add another person to make it a group of five. This just put them further behind the group in front of them. I called the pro shop to see if there was anything they could do and just got the run around.
Yes, golfing on a weekend does typically take longer to play, but the way our group had to constantly wait on every shot for the amount of time isn't okay. Nonetheless, the person in the group in front of us is a worker named Bailey, and it was his girlfriend that showed up, and he took the liberty to make his group a five-some so she could play. I won't ever go back to this course because paying over $160/person to play and wait excessively isn't something that's enjoyable. Hopefully, they'll take this feedback and improve on making the experience a better one for...
Read moreGreat Course, But the Marshal’s Harassment Ruined the Experience
I recently played a round at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course near Portland, and while the course itself was in excellent condition, my experience was marred by some unnecessary and frustrating encounters with one of the marshals.
We started our round at 7:30 AM and finished at 11:35 AM, well within the expected pace of play. However, Sebastian, the marshal, felt it necessary to approach us on three different holes, urging us to speed up despite the fact that we were ahead of schedule. We didn’t have any one waiting behind or pushing us to play faster. This repeated harassment really disrupted the flow of our game and cast a negative shadow over what should have been an enjoyable round. I think the finger twirl to speed it up was the icing on the cake for me.
On a positive note, Ethan at the pro shop was incredibly polite and understanding. He apologized sincerely for the marshal’s behavior, which I appreciated. However, given that we paid $220 for the round, I expected a much more relaxed and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, the marshal’s actions significantly detracted from that.
In conclusion, while the course itself is beautiful and well-maintained, the overzealousness of the marshal was a major downside. I hope the management addresses this issue so future golfers can enjoy their time on the course without unnecessary...
