why do i have to get used to unfriendly and unhelpful employees working everywhere i go? why do i go out of my way to accommodate customers at my workplace but continue to have to work against people at other businesses? why did i come into arctic ice arena today for the first time with my 2 year old son and a few basic questions about skating (i've never skated before in my life) only to have the smiles wiped off our faces immediately by a miserable human. you cannot act like somebody is bothering you when they have questions about the place you work. it's your job. i hate to judge the likeness of an entire hockey arena based on my interactions with one person but that's unfortunately the way it works and i can safely say i will never be back because i have zero tolerance for dealing with attitudes like that. sad to say it probably makes her day to make things more difficult for people. but i'm not accepting it anymore so we'll figure out somewhere else to learn how to skate. that lady should be stacking books in a library far away from happy people.
additionally, if anyone knows of a more welcoming skating/hockey community please reply and let me know a better place to...
Read moreI really enjoy a lot about this rink. We have been bringing our daughter here for private skating lessons for the last 8 years. We also frequently come here to free skate. However that being said in the last year this rink has started catering toward hockey a lot and it has such a tiny waiting area with tiny tables that fill quickly that people end up sitting on the floors. Also lately it’s literally turned into a circus/playground as the children/siblings of hockey players are running around playing tag/hide and seek and screaming at the top of their voices in the waiting area with no parents or staff intervening. As I was trying to change my daughters skates after lessons these children repeatedly rammed into me which caused her skates to Knick my leg (figure skates are sharp) This is so dangerous and not a playground. I’m not sure if I can handle skating...
Read moreReally disappointed with my most recent open skate experience. Spent $53 for my 3 daughters and I. I neglected to look at the end time for skating as it’s usually 2 hours and it was only 1 hour. They charged the same amount for 1 hour instead of 2. We ended up only getting maybe 20 minutes on the ice. Staff was unhelpful and almost rude like oh well, that’s too bad for you. I asked if we left our wristbands on and came back for the later open skate I would at least pay for just rentals again as $53 was a lot for 20 minutes of skating and was told “no sorry”. Definitely would not have received that kind of treatment from the staff at Southwest Ice Arena. I’m not sure if we are ever...
