Surplus City — Local services in Oroville

Interesting collection, literally rotting away on the shelves. Everything wool or digestible is moth infested and sizes are labelled inconsistently. Shoes lack any sizing information. Interesting bags, but no samples showing what they are, so you have to dig through everything to find out what you are looking at...in the poorly lit shelves. I go to surplus stores in just about every place I visit, and this was one of the worst.

I am painfully aware that you are one of the last. I would have gladly dropped a few hundred just because of that...I collect military wool. The problem is: if I brought those pieces into the house, it would spell the end for the rest of my collection.

Place has potential but it's hard to navigate and the prices way too high for the quality of what I saw. I'll give an example. Ammo boxes, the staple of any good military surplus store. Their price for rusted out boxes that don't shut, with rubber gaskets long long gone...$19.99. The same price for a brand new one online or at Walmart $12.00. This theme is found throughout the place. Lots of inventory in fair to poor condition going for above retail prices. The only thing I can think is that they must have other revenues steams they're prioritizing instead. As far as militarily surplus goes, probably not worth stopping by. But that being said, they have a ton of other inventory of randomness throughout their property that might be good value. I guess when I'm not seeing much value in the store I'm hesitant to walk around outside and looking...

every website i could find says its open. not open when we came. took forever to drive here, and nobody answered after calling multiple times. came a few hours before it "closed" and a few hours before it "opened" but alas nobody was here. too long of a drive for inconsistent hours. not satisfied in the slightest. might change star rating if we maybe come back and it's good.
