It's an Amish owned and operated store that is MUCH MORE than footwear. They're pretty well stocked to meet MANY peoples' needs for shoes, boots, hunting and fishing wear and equipment, INCLUDING those "tower blinds" that are enclosed and will keep you dry and warm that you need to climb a ladder to get up into. As someone else said, lots of various things geared towards the outdoor sportsman (but NOT "EXTREME SPORTS"! More geared towards the traditional sportsman who hunts, hikes, fishes, etc. It's mainly geared towards meeting the needs of their fellow Amish but by no means are us "English" not welcome. I've never had any kind of complaints here other than the prices may be a little bit higher than your global chains, but that's to be expected, isn't it? A small business owned and operated by a local family doesn't exactly receive the same advantages or benefits that your WalMarts will enjoy such as dictating the price they'll pay for product to stock for sale because of the truly COLOSSAL buying power they have to where the seller really has no option but to accept what low-ball amount the trillionaires offer him. And, while he's paying A HELL OF A LOT MORE than WalMart will for the very same thing, he's ALREADY at a MAJOR disadvantage because he STILL needs to make a profit in order to support his family and keep his business afloat. So, while WalMart can go in and say I'm not paying $20.00 each for these. I'll pay $13.00 each and I'll take 5,000,000 of them while Mom and Pop go to the same guy and tell him they can't pay $20.00 each, and have to nearly BEG the guy if he can discount the product some. The guy then comes back saying that the best he can let it go for is $18.00-$19.00 while Mom and Pop only need 30 or so to fully restock their store. That's why I REALLY AM VERY MUCH a supporter of the local Mo.m and Pop stores where it's a matter of their entire livelihood whereas the WalMarts will sell what they paid $13.00 each for at $21.00 while the Mom and Pop paid $19.00 each and still need to pay their staff, the electric bill, gas, mortgages on the business and their house, pay for the family's food and clothes and other necessities, as well as insurance, etc., so they have to sell them at $27.00 each just to make a TINY profit. It's just not fair and it's just not right. Mo.m and Pop are fighting for survival while the WalMarts are fighting to extract every last cent they can from the customer while screwing their suppliers just so they can eliminate all competition and have the entire market to themselves in order to pour more billions of dollars into their major shareholders' wallets and their own because, hey, $967,000,000,000.00 just really isn't quite enough. And all of THAT while paying their employees jack shit and what "benefits" they DO provide are the absolute bottom of the barrel. But, hey, there's a small town about 3 hours away that only has Mom and Pop shops in town that are thriving and there's not yet a WalMart there to run all the Mom and Pops out of town and into bankruptcy so it's REALLY IMPORTANT that you make another $100,000,000,000.00 this year so you can pollute THAT little town with your 400,000 square foot eyesore where you sell everything at 30% lower prices than the rest of your stores because it's just unacceptable for there to be a Mom and Pop competing with you. So, once you've run all the Mom and Pops out of business and into bankruptcy and they're forced to sell the homes they've been in most of their lives and move into an apartment because you and your "elite" main shareholders just CAN'T suffer the fact that there's another business out there being successful when all that money is actually rightfully YOURS because the TRILLION you now have just won't get you by for the month. When is enough going to be enough? THAT'S why I'll pay slightly higher prices whenever I can to help keep a Mom and Pop in business. I just wish there were more people who saw things the way I do and agreed that the personal relationships formed with the Mom and Pops...
