Gibson Furniture — Local services in Otterbein

Nice well meaning people but lack professionalism. My wife and I made the trip from West Lafayette to Boswell because we were looking for quality furniture and were intrigued by this store's local ads. We arrived and found that for the specific type and size sofa and loveseat we wanted we would need to special order. All went well, and though the price tag was stiff, we expected that for both quality and the customization. We made the order in January 2022 and due to the supply chain issues, we were told the lead time was six months. The staff was honest and upfront with the information and so no complaints. We put half down and the rest was due upon delivery. In July I received a call from the owner saying my furniture was in and arranged delivery. I took time to be home to receive my furniture and when it was delivered, it was not what we ordered. I called the store and spoke with the owner who apologized and informed me that the error was her mistake and that my furniture would need to be reordered. So the deliver guys took back the furniture leaving me to use an old couch I had in the basement. It is now the end of September, almost nine months since I ordered my furniture, and it was just delivered this week. I had to again make time to accept delivery. Though I have no complaints about the quality and the furniture, this time, was as ordered, my complaint is really with the fact that even though the owner freely admitted the delay was her mistake, not once did she offer any compensation or adjustment to the price. In fact, she even charged me for delivery and the removal of my old couch. It was only $110 but given I paid over 5K for a couch and love seat, some sort of tangible acknowledgment of our inconvenience and her mistake would have been both professional and...

I have been furniture shopping for my new house the last 6 wks. I had been to Gibson’s 5-6 yrs ago and bought a chair. I wasn’t finding what I wanted in Lafayette...so drove up to Boswell. I found a well stocked show room floor full of high quality, good brand name furniture with multiple choices of styles, colors and wood choices. Personnel was so helpful and kind. I was there 1-2 hours deciding on my purchase, ordering and adding items as I went. Gibson’s made this an enjoyable pleasant experience. I purchased my nursery crib and dresser at Gibson’s and I am extremely happy with the quality of there solid wood! Judy was very helpful helping us find exactly what we were looking for and helped us with the final touches such as color stains. We looked at high end stores for solid wood furniture and had no luck. I love how they are close to home and I can go visualize what I’m buying.
