I've been living in Oxford for about 5 years and made plenty of trips over to Hunters Hollow. They've got a great selection of firearms, ammo, and other outdoor products. The lower level employees are helpful and respectful. It really is a one stop shop for all of your outdoor needs. That being said, some of the older management and older employees are incredibly disrespectful towards younger customers. I have been ignored by employees, specifically those behind the gun counter, when asking for help finding ammunition and when I did receive help the employee was curt & visibly annoyed at being asked to point out the location of some ammo. Many of my college - aged friends have had similar experiences when asking for help from staff. Another time I went in to purchase a hunting license, and showed the cashier an digital copy of my Hunters Education permit that had been completed in Texas 5 years beforehand. An older manager began to yell at the cashier in front of me because he did not agree with her accepting the digital copy of my Hunters Ed permit & permit # as proof of completion of the course. The cashier had not back-talked the manager or been disrespectful in any manner. I attempted to intervene and calm the situation and was told off by the manager. It was an uncomfortable experience as a customer and downright disrespectful to the cashier. I'm not an expert on MDWFP rules about accepting digital copies as proof, but I do know that a TX hunter ed certification is valid in MS. It's entirely possible the manager was correctly following regulations in wanting to refuse acceptance of my digital copy as proof, and I've got no problem with that. My issue was with the way he approached the situation, which was appalling and similar to a toddler tantrum. The majority of my customer experiences here have been positive; conversely, the management and older employees that I have had interactions with are disrespectful and have made me wary of giving my business to a company that does not respect their employees or...
Read moreI had gone to purchase a firearm back in June timeframe and the First Gentleman with brown hair and glasses I had worked with was being extremely helpful letting me know all the requirements I needed to purchase a firearm as a active duty military member but he was unable to complete the transaction due to him not being the one to handle that part.I had then brought all said documents my orders, letter from my commanding officer stating I live in Mississippi, I even brought mail to my current residence, my title, when I went back with all documents I went back over to the gun counter and I was explaining to the older man what my situation was and he very rudely said I know your situation and I’m not gonna sell you this firearm. I told him I had all the information they requested and he looked at it and said no it’s too much of a hassle and paperwork and then again said I refuse to sell you this firearm as a matter of fact I won’t sell you this firearm. I said ok then what was the point of asking me to get all necessary documents to not even try? I dont see the reason to play games if he knew from the beginning he was going to deny me why have me run loops to just be denied before evening? That older man is rude and as I can tell he’s rubbed people the wrong way. I never said anything to provoke him or I don’t believe I did anything to or even cause him to have an attitude I guess this is something he just decided on how he deals with military and minorities I was denied before I even opened my mouth I was judged before he even knew me. If he would when kindly explained it it would have been different but maybe he was having an off day but only he and...
Read moreWent in for the first time today to check the prices on ammunition and a 1911 magazine the ammunition selection was not very impressing it was either 50 rounds or the massive bulk packs. Both of which were overpriced. So I passed on the ammunition and went to search for a 1911 magazine and the only 1911 magazine I found was made by Kimber and the one here cost more than buying it directly from Kimber. Then to top it off one of the associates was talking about how a customer "Was being an a$$" while me and and another customer could clearly hear him. I'll give them another shot this week just in case today was an off day but if it doesn't change I'll take business elsewhere. *Update I went back in on Friday at around 5 and it was a little bit busier and it was great service and was helped with all my questions they are helpful in...
