The owner is really trying to keep the store open; when, long ago, it had been a branch-store of the franchise "Walgreens/Alco", the large franchise was able to buy enough to need a warehouse, & so could offer even lower prices; When the corporate decision to close many stores was made, (this one included), it left a "hole" in the community; the subsequent loss of the hardware-store, which had been one door down, left a serious gap for local residents, (due to the fact that fuel costs had skyrocketed), & one local resident bought the store in an effort to keep it open, but trying to match the bulk-buying power of a large chain isn't as easy as it used to be, & so the store was again sold, to the current owner, who opens @ mornings & closes @ late evenings, & let the stock which didn't sell simply "run out", while taking up some of the sorely-needed "slack" that the loss of the hardware store had caused, by adding commonly-requested items... There's always a cold bottle of tea or soda-pop in the cooler, along with conversation about current goings-on. Well worth the time to stop in & have a look around, "...and if you don't see what...
