📚At Oxnard College, I studied ESL (English as a second language). In general, the buildings are beautiful and the classrooms are well-equipped. 📱The library provides free books and iPads for students. ‼️However, opinions about the teachers vary. I have never encountered a worse teacher than German Bermudez! ⛔️He is very arrogant, unfriendly, and the atmosphere in his class is always tense! ❌He speaks with a strong Latin accent, and he never explains new words. He always speaks quickly, and he gives strict deadlines for homework that you can't complete (on an iPad), which other teachers don't do. 👎As I was informed, he used to be a student and now he's a tutor, which is why he has a sense of grandeur. I am very disappointed that the college doesn't have control over who they hire… ☝️Additionally, I would like to recognize the most excellent teacher in this college, Patricia Viveros! ❤️She always smiles, jokes with her students, and is very helpful in explaining new words!👩🏼‍🎓👨‍🎓 Her lessons are easy and fun, and the atmosphere is friendly! As the son, of a mother who was hard of hearing, Professor Michael Abram's attitude and comments are absolutely, unequivocally unacceptable! My mother, a single hard of hearing mother, did her best to provide for my brother and I. I can't begin to tell you the hurt that she felt and the hurt that we felt for her, when simple things, such as ordering a pizza over the phone, were met by ridicule, laughter and and total disregard. If you choose to retain him, you (Oxnard College), would therefore, show that you condone such hurtfulness and discrimination. Truly and utterly disturbed by the video that I watched of Professor Abrams being so incredibly disrespectful to a woman that has a hearing disability. His behavior is unacceptable. Being a teacher means being able to respectfully provide tools and teach every single individual no matter their impairments or disabilities. What I just witnessed was a low level human being who shouldn’t even be a teacher at all. The fact that he is still on “leave,” is astonishing to me.
