Love the course, my caddie was awesome, my playing partners' caddie was awesome, the pace of play was even better than I expected... but $525 for a round of golf? I paid it, but I likely won't do it again. One of my biggest frustrations regarding my round was that one of their iconic par 3 holes, the 15th, was completely unplayable at the time of my visit. It was not mentioned on their website in either the Course Notices section, the hole-by-hole description, or anywhere else I could find. Instead of playing the 15th, they shortened the par 5 14th, built a very nice temporary green in the middle of the fairway, and then used the actual 14th green to receive tee shots from the new temporary 15th tee. A very similar thing happened to me at Pebble Beach last year with a new green being built for the 6th, but at least I got to play each hole there. If I'm going to pay full price for a round, I should get to play the full course. Or, they should tell me when I call to take my reservation that part of the course is under construction, or they should post it in a prominent place on their website, so I can make an informed decision before they take that much of my money. They don't let you cancel within 14 days, so you're stuck if you get there and find out something will be missing from your round. It was a good golf experience overall, but to me, WAY overpriced, especially considering I couldn't even play the whole course. Definitely a bucket list item checked off, but I don't think they'll be earning repeat business from me. Hope you have better luck and schedule at a time when the course is not under construction! However, given this happened to me at both Pebble and Spyglass in consecutive years, I am going to guess this is a recurring theme at Pebble Beach golf properties. Good luck to you, and if you go,...

This is not a $500 golf course. The first 5 holes are beautiful, and the rest are pretty and interesting. But neighboring Pebble is way better. Holes 6-18 remind me a lot of Bethpage Black, and that course costs around $100.
This course is ridiculously hard. I was playing from the Senior tees (green), and I took my 100th shot on #16. (My handicap says I would have a 50% chance of breaking 100.) Our caddy said that in his experience, folks shoot about double their handicap. Yup!
For me, the things that contributed most to the difficulty were: the elevated greens, the general lack of bail out area in front of the greens, the deep rough, and the crazy and subtle undulations (combined with the speed) of the greens. A caddy will help read the greens, but if you hit the wrong speed on the right line, you're still missing by a mile.
The par 3s are not nearly as hard (if you are playing from the proper tees) as the rest of the holes.
Full disclosure: it was raining for most of our round today. And it had been raining a lot recently, so the course was playing unusually long today (according to our caddy).
If shooting a good score contributes to your enjoyment of your round of golf, you need to adjust your expectations and (hopefully) find your...
Read moreI played here two days ago. Wonderful golf course. Parking can get a little tricky. Only real knock on the experience was price gouging on the carts. I played as part of an NCGA tournament. The information we were given stated the price of carts as $50/rider. I was the only rider yet I was told I had to pay a total of $110 for the cart. When I asked about it I was told that the carts were only being rented as a unit that day and I had no option to only pay for my seat in the cart.(my playing partner wished to walk) I was also told that this would be the policy the following day at Poppy Hills, which was a lie because I was able to pay a single rider fee the following day. I assume the staff member who checked me in was either misinformed or intentionally taking advantage of me. Either way, this is poor form and really took away from the experience. Thankfully this establishment did not get any more of our money that day. I would love to play here again someday, but I won’t be spending...
