So, I was recommended this place from a coworker. They gave me a “gray price to fix my iPhone 7 screen that was cracked! The close at 7pm I dropped my phone off at 5:50 on a fri. I went back to work and got hung up w a customer so I had a different co worker go pick my phone up for me! Whe he gets back I grab th phone and it’s all smudged all over t screen n I am thinking k that’s weird wouldn’t they clean it? But this is beside the point. THE HOME BUTTON DOSENT WORK!!!!!!! So I call them at 7:10 when I’m done w m customer and they acctully pick up th phone and answer! I explain to the man on the phone who I am and what the problem is and he says “your phone was broke when you brought it in” (no my phone worked just fine when o brought it in the screen was just shattered! So I say hey I can be with out a phone as I use it for work all day and can I please bring it up right now I can be there in three min as it’s just down the street from my work...... The wonderful man on the other end say NO! Come back tomorrow a ten am were closed....... Click.... he hung up on me!!!!!

Now I’m in sales my self and sales is intact customer service. So I think to my self.... well last night I stayed st work till 11:30 pm to finish a sale do I tell the customer we are closed.... nope I’m simply did my job!

I have a rather large social media following... it is my intention to take my phone else where and pay again t have it fixed properly... and then spread th word about how messed up a situation this is!

This has been the absolute WORST experience I’ve ever had with a phone repair, and I feel completely ripped off. First of all, the business listing on Google is extremely misleading. It shows up as a legitimate shop, but when you get there, it’s literally someone’s house. That should’ve been my first clue to turn around, but I decided to give them a chance. Huge mistake.

Before I brought my phone in, it worked fine aside from the screen being detached. I could still use the phone perfectly as long as I held the screen in place. All I needed was for the screen to be reattached properly. After this guy “fixed” it, my phone worked for about 10 minutes before it started powering off randomly. Now, it doesn’t even stay on—it just keeps shutting off and says to connect to my Mac for a restore. I tried restoring it, but even that doesn’t work. This issue ONLY started after he touched my phone.

To make matters worse, he replaced my original screen with a cheap, low-quality knockoff. It’s flimsy, dim, and completely unresponsive. I paid good money expecting a professional repair, but instead, I’m left with a phone that’s in worse condition than when I brought it in. And now, he’s refusing to take responsibility for the mess he caused or refund my money.

If you’re thinking about going here, save yourself the headache and go somewhere reputable. This business is shady, unprofessional, and a complete scam. The guy takes your money, uses garbage parts, and leaves you with a broken phone and no accountability. Avoid this place...

I stopped in to get my cell phone battery replaced. Was done fast (in an hour) and I left happy. However, I had to return shortly after because they had left the fingerprint sensor disconnected. No big deal, even though the individual working there seemed annoyed I was back requesting it get fixed. However, for a couple of weeks after that, everyone I called would complain of echo/choppy hearing (which did not happen when I used the speaker or car connect). This made me realize that the mic was either not connected properly or loose connection. I returned to the store with the problem and the same individual stated that if my phone was charging okay, it had nothing to do with the mic (shared ports), not their problem and they would have to send it out to a third party for repair. I asked if he could just take the back off and look at it and he refused, saying it was pointless. I left frustrated and went to a repair shop a mile away (CPR repair on Dundee in Palatine) to get their opinion. They were very accommodating, and said it was likely a loose connection. They took a look and sure enough, the mic had not been reconnected properly. They even refused to charge me because it was such a simple thing. You can imagine how annoyed I was to pay for a service at Smart Tech and have such a sloppy repair and poor...
