Awesome place and awesome people.. My wife and I along with our three year old and 5mo old went on the alpaca trek and mill tour. We got there early and were waiting in the car for them to open .. we were about an hour early and Mike a very knowledgeable kind person came out and introduced himself.. I told him we were city folk trusting the wiles of gps to get us here and we landed early. He then told us to go ahead and get ready then ,let’s get started early so your kiddos don’t just sit in the car getting anxious. Mike was very knowledgeable and informative about the alpacas and the two we walked (donut and rocketman) Were both lots of fun and very interesting. The animals were natural but still docile and at no time was worried about the safety of my family. It was an absolutely delightful time. It was a rare view into a place where integrity ,hardwork, passion, and family all come together to let you experience some wonderful animals and the wonderful people who care for them .. The mill was also a very neat glimpse into how the abundant uses of the fibers are processed ... while also forcing a realization of how time consuming this process is. Love what they are doing here and wish them the best of luck. They will be highly recommend to anyone I speak with
Good people... plain and simple. If you meet them and didn’t like them you need to really take a look at yourself and...
Read moreThis was a GREAT experience! What an interesting, ENCHANTING place! Whether you just visit the store, or take the whole tour, I'd highly recommend this to anyone. The farmer, Mike, gave each of us an alpaca to lead through the orchard. (Walking with alpacas is relaxing; they're friendly and easygoing.) Mike's very knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions about the animals, the farm, and more. (I learned a lot about local wildlife, for example.) After we met the lovable alpacas, we saw the mill, which was fascinating. There aren't very many farms like this, and the mill can process a variety of different animal furs. Being able to see the whole thing, from how the fur looks when it's shaved off the alpacas, and seeing all the steps it takes to turn it into yarn, is mesmerizing. I could do this tour several times - it's that interesting. Mike's a fun and gracious host. And for those of us who don't live on ranches or farms, it feels great to spend a little time in this different environment. We also learned about alpaca yarn, which is an entire subject in itself, and I think anyone would benefit from knowing the attributes of this incredible fiber. I could go on and on, this is among the very best of the Western Slope. Don't miss out on this extraordinary experience!! Thanks Mike, for a wonderful afternoon with the...
Read moreWhat an incredible experience! We were worried because we dropped in unannounced during Palisade's off season, but their open sign was on and I wanted to see the alpacas and pick up some yarn for my mom. Mike came out to greet us and he was super friendly and seemed really excited to talk about his work. We got to go look at the alpacas and he talked about caring for them, and then he took us into their warehouse to show us the whole process of making loose fiber into yarn and then putting it through the knitting machine! It was super cool! Their yarn is also absolutely beautiful and excellent quality. My mom loved the skeins I got her and is excitedly picking out a project for them. I also got a lovely scarf that they knitted themselves that I've been wearing nonstop! This place is a must have on your...
