Hinshaw Rock’n Gem is such a hidden treasure, and my husband and I were thrilled to stumble upon it. Even though it’s a little off the beaten path and tucked away in a private area, the trip is absolutely worth it. As soon as we got there, we were amazed by the selection—handmade jewelry and rocks galore! If I wanted, I could’ve left with a truckload of stones, but I managed to resist… for now!

On this visit, I picked up just a small sampling of what they have to offer, but I’m already looking forward to going back. Next time, I definitely plan on leaving with more, and probably spending a bit more too! If you’re into unique, handcrafted jewelry or just love collecting rocks, you’ve got to check this place out. Being as this place mentions being a full service lapidary we were excited to go visit a fellow rock hound shop. We got there and found some lovely materials we wanted to purchase but were given every excuse as to why we didn't really want to buy those particular items. The oil had to evaporate before they could be cabbed, they weren't sorted or priced... basically anything of any value they had they didn't want to sell, unless it was in their jewelry. As people selling things it astounds me to see people who do not make it possible or enjoyable for someone to purchase an item. 3rd time I have been there. I always love to chat and talk rocks. Amazing folks. This time I got to spend more time and ask questions and the owner sure knows his stuff. Amazing journey's to get some of the inventory. I like examples that are still in the rough. We got some great petrified wood pieces from Wyoming, Texas, and Idaho. The owners daughter was wonderful as well. Packaged everything safe and sound for the journey home.
